Default Looking at getting a GS300

I have been reading as much as I can here, great bunch of guys and so much info. I am looking at getting a older 2nd gen GS300 and plan on swapping in a J2Z.

Have searched for many of the questions and found some great threads on the swap etc, however I was wondering if the GS400 is able to accept the J2Z swap as well. I am learning towards the 300 but have seen a few decent priced 400s so I was just wondering.

I will be doing the ball joint DIY asap and many other known maintenance jobs to make sure the car is up to par.

Here is a 300 I have found at a used car dealership in LA and I was wondering if this was a members car, or if any members have any info on it.

Any help would be great!

For what reason other than the fact that you have a GS4, would you recommend O.P. a GS4 as opposed to a GS3?

I think all your question will be answered here:

2JZ swap sticky

Think I read somewhere that it's slightly less work to swap a 300 than a 400. Something about ecus.

BTW, Welcome to the Club!!

I wanted a 400 however I wanna do a jdm turbo swap, and a front mount inter cooler trumps a v8 in my books.

Well stock, a 400 would be best, however you have to factor insurance which the 300 has to be less, no?

Actually I was asking @repugnante why he had stated inevitable satisfaction in you obtaining a GS400, versus a GS3.

^ GS400 has much more power with the same mpg as the 300. The 300 is a slug. Especially in comparison to today's six cylinder vehicles (Maxima's, some Hyundai's/Kia's and V6 Camry's, etc. destroy it).

However, if you have the will and the funds to do a swap and turbo you will have tons of power. Even more so than the V8 400. In my opinion, if you aren't taking it to the track, with the money you are gonna shell out for the swap, why not just get a 400 that already has plenty of power??

A GS400 is no match for a boosted 300. None what soever. It's not even worth the discussion imho. O.P if your intention is to go turbo in the future, buy yourself a GS300 and you'll have the option of either going na-t or doing the gte swap which will net you the same results.

I think it's quite silly to compare lighter cars with newer technology vs. a more heavy car that's basically using the same inline 6 from 1998. Of course it going to be quicker and faster. its 2013. If you are going to compare, compare a V6 with equal weight and year for you response to be valid. Based on your thought process, the 400 suck because a G35/37 will blow it out the water stock and its a V6. The Camaro which is a V6 will smoke a 400 because has more hp in the V6 offering. Compare apples to apples buddy. I agree that the mileage is somewhat the same, close enough to get the 400 vs. 300 if driving stock.

OP, go with 300 so you can do the swap. Once it's swapped I'll be willing to race you with my 96 Impala....Depending on the stage. i think Jeff car is the only one I wouldnt attempt to race on this site lol.

****disclaimer: I'm not being defensive. Engaging in healthy debate. I notice you say that a lot with my post when I reply to u lol.

I plan on the 300 first I have to find one. Could care less about racing you, however if you must I don't think I'm heading to Texas very soon. So if the race must happen I assume you are willing to travel to Las Vegas and drive in a straight line. I admit driving in straight lines does nothing for me, more of a road course guy.

Cheers

It's called a joke. I'm not driving to NV to race you lol. The only reason to come to NV is to party in Vegas! Wow, I'm surprised that you took that literally. Good luck with your find.

2003-05 Infiniti G35 base

That's just to name a few. Same years, within the same generation
