Default My first GS! Lots to do!

I just got my first GS. Its a Black on Black 1999 GS400 that I picked up with 130,000 miles. Immaculate condition, I mean everyting on this car is in good shape. I even had inspector look at it and he was impressed.

I just sold my 2007 Infiniti M45S to get rid of a large car payment and bought this with cash. This car is just as nice if not nicer than my M45 which was 8 years newer!

Ill post some pics as soon as I get a chance to take some with nice weather (I live in Portland, OR).

Anyway, I have a really nice base to work with here and thinking of doing a lot to this car and keeping it. Here are the things Im looking to do.

1. Blacked out Halo Headlights. The Spec-D ones look like they would be a great match to the rear lights that are already blacked out. The former owner had them done and they look fantastic!
2. Blacked out LED driving lights to replace the OEM yellow fog lights.
3. HIT Bulbs for Lic Plate, 3rd brake light, side markers, dome, step/courtesy, trunk, glove box and maybe even the gauge cluster. Might even go with a color on the interior lights.
4. CAI.
5. Din Nav Screen/Head Unit with BT and A2DP.
6. Brakes - defnitley due for pads on the front, but would like colored caliper covers and maybe even some better braking power. They seem just a bit mushy but thats how they are from what I hear.
7. Wheels/Tires - Want to go biggest and best looking I can wihtout moddification (rolliing fenders, etc...)
8. Coilovers
9. Repaint or replace front grill. I like the mesh look ones.
10. Remote start

So far thats my list and new ride! I hope to have things moving soon and will post pics of the new car and as things progress.

If anyone has any suggestions on the best product for any of these items, by all means, I would love your opinion / advice.

Thank you and glad to be a new member here

Welcome to CL but please no halo headlights. We prefer to leave those to the Honda crowd.

Welcome to CL. Black on black is nice but that's too much black you're adding on. I'd say go for suspension and wheels first instead. Keep us updated!

+1 on the gs being as smooth if not smoother than the M45. im a previous 2006 m45 owner and im never going back to infiniti. i owned the car for a year and a half and it was in the shop 14 times for recalls, and engine problems.
lots of nice amenities on the car but not worth the headaches.

Retro = Retrofitted

Different flavors to choose from .. Like a pizza pie..you add your toppings.. the more toppings the more $$

Unless you go used, then its what ever the guy before decided to retro..

funny, i remember when i first got mine i said "the brakes feel a little mushy". That's just the way these cars are, but if you ever have to slam on those brakes you will be surprised how fast and powerful they bring you to 0. and..Welcome to CL

Welcome to CL.... I wanted the M45 at one point also.. Even thought of selling the GS a few years ago to buy one.. V8 340 HP seemed pretty awesome... But in the end i felt like the GS was better in quality and i new what i had.

GL modding.. Tons of DIY to do most maintenance and mods..

Thanks for the nice welcome folks. I will get some pre-mod pics up soon

I think I will attack the wheels/tires first (for looks). Just debating between all matching or staggered.

Maybe 245/35/r20 for all matching

or

staggered: 19 inch the back 275/30/r19 and the front 245/35/r19

Just a couple sizes I'm considering unless anyone has opinions for a better setup/look. Im going with coilovers but no modifications to the car.
