Exclamation Red Battery light flashing

I have a '98 GS400 with about 160k miles.
I was in the process of driving my car and about 5 mins in my red battery light started flashing and it continued to flash while I drove.

Once I was able to return home and placed my car in park, the light stayed lit & solid.

Last month, the battery indicator came on very briefly and my fiancée checked out the situation, since my battery itself is fairly new (less than a year and a half old) and the terminals looked corroded so he replaced them, because he thought that could possibly be the issue and it was fine up until now.

What could it be now?
Thanks in advance!

Your alternator is crapping the bed.

^ What he said. Also, do you know if you are experiencing any power steering fluid leaks? More times than not, the power steering reservoir, which is located directly above the alternator, leaks onto it and slowly kills it.

have the battery midtronic tested anyways. it may not be able to hold charge.

due to age though, the alternator/voltage regulator is most likely at fault.
