Default In the market for GS400, some Q's

Hey there, I've been in the market for a DD the past couple weeks and mainly trying to decide between a couple vehicles. I was primarily interested in an is300 but I'd prefer something a little bigger.

After looking around a bit more the GS300\400 looks like a right choice in what I am looking for.

I don't plan to mod for performance so l figured the GS400 will be more pleasant to drive. I needed something with 4 doors to fit a car seat and and always been a fan of the the GS looks. What I am curious about is the reliability of the GS400 V8? I tried searching but couldn't find much on it. Other then that I would just throw some nice wheels\drop\lip and maybe an exhaust and call it a day.

Here is my go fast toy:

My GS400 has 110,00 miles on it and has been extremely reliable. No gasket issues like my GM cars, doesn't burn any oil, as powerful today as 3-years ago when I bought it, can run at 100mph for hours. Get the 400, you will not regret it. At the price these have gone down to, I think this car in particular is the used-car value of the century.

Actually I went through the stickies and didn't see any threads about the 1UZ reliability.

I searched that and gs400 reliability I found one thread comparing the two but most threads were people trying to decide between the gs300 and gs400. I know which one I want so i wanted some technical info regarding the 1UZ\common problems\parts requiring replacement etc.. Next time I need info on drifting a FWD I'll ask you.

Anyways I'm looking at two local GS400's ones got 88k miles and they want 6400$. Completely stock Black on black has service records original owner.

The other is black 146k miles and has 19inch Volks all around and looks like its in really good shape and they're asking 7500$

We'll see what happens tomorrow when I check them out.

The 1UZ is very reliable, these cars have some common issues with ball joints and a few little things like that but I'd jump on that 88k mile car at that price if it's clean. It's due for a timing belt and water pump service at 90k so know that going in but overall these are very reliable quality vehicles. The engine is bulletproof if it's taken care of, no worries there.

I think common sense will prevail with these options. Yes, the 300/400/430 engines are all bullet proof. The downside of these cars are the suspension issues. Not going to get into that because there is a sticky at the top of the forum with everything you need to know and replace asap.

Go with the 88K. Esp. since it has blk/blk. Pretty rare for most GS's.
Since they have the service records, check and make sure the TB/WP, Ball joints, tie rods were done.

These are very reliable cars. I've had a few quirks here and there, but nothing out of the ordinary. I'd say go with the lower mileage one.

Lol ah man. Low mileage one for sure. Door lock actuators and ac servo's like to go out also. Overall it's a very nice car.
