Default Timing belt replacement cost?

Just wondering what a fair price should be for a timing belt water pump on a 2nd gen gs300 should be, Lexus is quoting about 900$ I think that's a bit much but haven't really checked elsewhere yet, most independent shops would do it for 600$ range right? I don't think our engine is especially difficult to work on (especially compared to my last car, an Acura legend) I do not want to do this myself btw, although perk of lexus is getting to take a loaner new lexus, maybe a 4th gen GS lol

Even though this subject has been touched on sooo much over the years and typically I would say SEARCH, it's early so I'll answer. $900 is a good price coming from the stealership. I paid $1050 to an independent lexus mechanic 1.5 years ago which included TB, DB, WP, new coolant, new hoses, new crank and cam seals, so I'm good for the next 100-150k. Prices are based on your location. If you live in a region like Cali for instance where these cars are a dime a dozen, then you probably could get a mechanic to replace for $600 including parts.
