Smile Just Bought A 99' GS400

hey guys im new here on CL and i just wanted to know a little bit more about this car, i had never owned any lexus nor have any knowledge so bare with me please and i hope i came to the right place to be schooled. for 3,000 i bought a 99 gs400 has approx 174k on it i just changed the evap sensor and had the brakes serviced, oil is good and it runs pretty healthy shifts smooth and rides nice! even though the rear bushings are squeaky its bearable with loud music lol but is there anything i got to watch out for at this high of mileage? and as for what i plan on doing with it is probably gonna be cliche and everyone else already does it but hey why not i plan on lowering it and throwing some rims on it not sure on what set up nor anything for that matter i had never owned a car like this one. i also would like to add i know nothing about suspension in the past ive owned an integra, mercedes r129, and a rsx please help this is my second car cause i also own a 2001 bmw 540i. hoping to find members in san diego or so cal area to help me. thanks

I am new to the GS line, but have driven a couple Lexus vehicles over the years. Like any Toyota / Lexus product, the timing belt is very important. The GS appears to have issues with the door lock actuators (see top of main forum page for details). Otherwise just do the standard maintenance and oil change and you should be good to go. Welcome!

Welcome, look at the stickies to get all of your answers. Everything you listed has been discussed. If I were you, I would look that the LBJ thread FIRST with your amount of miles.

MAINTENANCE FIRST, then do whatever floats your boat, lowered with rims looks pretty just sitting in the driveway broken down...

That's a lot of mileage to drop 3k on. Never the less, welcome. Pay close attention to the cars suspension. You mentioned squeaking bushings? You may find it bearable now, but you won't when that puppy gets really bad and it will get really, really bad. Take care of that. trust me.

After driving a 300HP Challenger a week ago, I wish I had the 430 now lol. Especially being that the gas burn isn't much of a difference.....but don't get me wrong, I still love my "quick" 300 lol.
