Default Fuel pump connector help

Hey guys, replacing my fuel filter in my 99 gs400 and there are 3 wires. 2 plug in a normal style plug and the 3rd is like a ground wire with a small metal plate that slips onto something in the assembly.

problem is i cant figure out where the 3rd stray wire goes now.... does anyone happen to know?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.... seems the 3 Diy's on it either

A: Decided to use flash with the majority of the pump being white plastic so i cant see a damn thing
b: Stopped taking pics right when about to open top of assembly (great diy! assume people already know what to do)
c: Didnt take a single picture.

Oh how i miss the SC forums already..... can anyone help? Cannot figure where this stupid wire goes as the whole interior of the assembly is plastic other than the main harness clip (which the ground wire in question is attached to)
