GS300 with 3.3L RX motor?
Hi, I'm a new member and i wanted to buy a 03 GS300, but when i saw that lexus has the new 3.3L engine i was worried that they are going to replace the 3.0L engine in the GS300 with the 3.3L in the RX. Is this going to happen or no, so i can go ahead and buy the GS300. Thanks

Another Questions
Whats the difference between the 3.0L and the 3.3L? Is the 3.3L a bored 3.0L only with no other differences? Or did they change the stroke on it with the same bore? Did they do anything to the intake manifold too? I think the exhaust will be the same right? Thanks.

Right now the RX come with 3.0 V-6 and it will be replace by 3.3 V-6.
The new GS330 and the IS will have the V-6, but I'm not sure it will use the same engine from the RX or not.

There's a rumor that the 2JZ engine will be history after '04. If this does happen you will see a V6 in the GS and IS. It may possibly be the 4L V6 from the 4-Runner. Also the 3.3L engine was achieved by a bigger bore only, the stroke is still the same.

So its not a good time to buy the GS300 ha? Its better to wait for the GS330, but whats nice about the 2JZGE motor is that it have been proven to be one of the best realiable engines. I dont know how will the new I6 3.3L going to be? Is it going to be exactly the same motor with just a bore? If thats the case then its going to be as realiable as the I6 3.0(2JZGE) dont u think guys? By the way do u know the code name of the new 3.3L I6?

which motor will be used in the GS330, a V6 or I6? I think the I6 will produce more power giving same C/R and displacment. I dont know why would toyota change the whole layout of the engine. I think it will cost them more to fit the V6 in the IS and the GS since they have been working with the I6 for 2 Gens now.

From what I've heard they will replace the I-6 with the V-6 3.3 liter. So the new GS, IS and SC 330 will come with the V-6. I think the I-6 is a good solid engine and easier to mod.

As far as I know, Toyota will be killing the inline 6 engine for emission reason.
For anyone that is interested, this is what happened in Japan.
On September 2002, the emission standard in Japan became a lot stricter. Which forced 4 sports car to end production at the end of August because they can't pass smog anymore:
JZA80 Supra with the 2JZGTE inline 6 twin turbo engine.
BNR34 Skyline GTR with the RB26DETT inline 6 twin turbo engine.
S15 Nissan Silvia with the SR20DET inline 4 single turbo engine
FD3S Mazda RX7 with the 13B-REW rotary twin turbo engine.
The GS300 we have here uses the 2JZGE inline 6 engine, which is the non-turbo verson of the Supra engine, base on the fact that Toyota killed the Supra in Japan. The next GS/Aristo will have a new V6 engine in it. All the car rumor magazine in Japan is saying the same thing, the next mid size RWD Toyota Sedan and the next Supra will have V6s. If the Japanese Toyota is switching to V6s, Toyota will not keep the inline 6 just for the U.S. market.
One thing I don't get is, the Aristo S300/V300 with the 2JZ series engine is still in production in Japan. Maybe is because the Aristo have an automatic tranny so it is tuned more conservative then the Supra, so its emission is cleaner. Which also explained why the current GS300 is still in production.
What a shame, the 2JZGE inline 6 is such a sweet engine. Inline 6 engine sounds SO GOOD
