Missfire and I just got the car.
Ok so this is my very first GA300, not new to Lexus since I've owned a couple of SC400s before, well to make a long story short, I got the car, dove it 300 miles out to town, everything was fine, the next morning had a misfire and a check engine light on the dash. I've never worked on this engine but any advice on what to check would be really appreciated, I noticed the intake is on top so it would have to be removed in order to remove the spark plugs correct?

as the members before me posted…get obd2 scanner…find out what's throwing the CEL. If its misfires on the cylinders, then its probably the spark plugs. change them all…use Denso oem plugs.

I forgot to tell you guys I got it diagnosed early yesterday before I made this thread, the scanner said there's a misfire on cylinder number 4, I wish I wasn't far from home where I have my tools and try and replace some stuff but I work out of town and will have to take it to the dealership more than likely.

Why take it to the dealership when you can easily buy the tools necessary to change out that one spark plug? You can probably spend 20 bucks for a cheap 3/8 inch ratchet and spark plug socket (5/8) and do it right there in the parking lot. Unless I'm missing something, it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Ok well got the car back, problem was a bad coilpack, drove the car, everything was fine, parked for a couple of hrs, started driving again and the throtle was real heavy, I almost had to floor it for it to move, check engine light on, and the tranny would jerk everytime it changed gears, what the hell could be wrong now, I know they probably forgot something but I wouldn't like to let them touch my car again.

Sounds like the drive-by-wire isn't working and that you're using failsafe mode by flooring it. I'd check the wiring. Sounds like they didn't get everything plugged in properly. The real answer is take it back and let the garage fix it.

Finally got a day off from work, seems like the problem would be the Throtle control motor, let's see how fast I can get this shipped if I find it, screw the dealership, they wanna charge to diagnose again and start replacing parts, I'm gonna stay away from those idiots, by the way there's no Lexus dealer here, it's Toyota.
