Also, do you guys subscribe to the "change every 3,000 miles" plan or do you do it every 5,000 per Lexus? I'm leaning towards doing every 3,000 just to be safe as my GS is a 2002 with close to 90k. While that isn't a lot of miles, I want to keep this car for 10 years. Will not be doing synthetic and changing every 3,000 as that seems like a waste.

Anyways, I'm interested in your responses--especially long-time GS300 owners with high miles on their cars.

Oil is a lot better than from 1998. Think about how much computers have advanced.
So, I go with 7500 miles which is the real recommendation for normal service, not the 5k which is for severe service, even though it could probably go even further.
If the car gets low miles, I'll set a timelimit of 1 year change and conventional.

I buy and use whatever full synthetic oil is on sale, and try to resist the urge to hoard oil, as they always come out with something slightly better every couple of years.

Filters I will use what's bundled in the deal, which is often a bosch; or use a pure1 from amazon as I ran out of OEM toyota filters and haven't gone through the hassle to put together a toyota parts order.

You can get Toyota filters on Amazon for pretty cheap. I think I got them for around $5 each.

Thanks! I'm a prime member so I should get free shipping as well. Amazon actually has a really good selection of auto parts and accessories.
