Default ok so GS300 is slower than the RX330 huh?

i was browsing through the lexus website (www.lexus.com) and read about the new RX330. FWD model's 0-60 is 7.7 sec, while GS300's 0-60 is 7.8 sec. RX330 is 3800+ lbs while GS300 is 3600+ lbs, and RX330 has 10 more HP and more torque also.

Dudes, what's goin on here?!?

anyone have some real-world 0-60 data for GS300? (I've tested before with my exhaust and it was HORRIBLE)

I think the information could be accurate. While the GS300 does have a slightly better hp/ weight ratio than the RX330(.19) the RX33 does have 22 more lbs/ ft which cannot be dismissed.

Contributing to this also is being an SUV, the RX330's axle ratio is much higher which is better for acceleration.

the GS300s in 98 and 99 were faster when they had 228hp and 225hp, respectively.

geeze 2000 sucks. Least HP and no E-shift

Actually, '98-'99 GS300's had 225hp and 220 lb ft. They also weighed less than the 2000+ models giving them an average .14 advantage in the QM. The JDM S300 was quickest of all with 230ps(226.8hp)/ 224.2 lb ft stock and a curb weight of 3549 lbs(15.41 1/4 mile) due to less strict(than the U.S.) safety standards.

I am really going to have to take my 99 GS300 to a track or something because I can outrun my cousins 99 Regal supercharge GS, my other friends 96 Impala SS, and this dude in my hood GTP. I'm guessin the RX330 wouldn't stand a chance by the cars that I have played with already. I haven't had anything done to it but after that front end collision the repair shop (real cool/expensive people) rebuilt my whole engine (guessin they where bleeding my insurance) The GS comes back to me in two weeks and before I get rid of it I will try to get some 0-60/dyno info done. I always felt my car was quick and really couldn't be beaten by other V-6's until the new ............so many now came out.

As for the JDM I had called Blitz once to ask them about there intercooler for the GS and the told me that it's really only for the Asian market because they have a turbo on it pushing 280h.p.?

Is that true?

Lexus official Website:

'98 GS300, 0-60 in 7.6 seconds

'03 RX330, 0-60 in 7.7 seconds

'00 GS300, 0-60 in 7.8 seconds

Lexus took the GS3 from LEV status('98-'99) to ULEV status(a priority for Lexus) in '00+ which is why they made max hp occur at a lower RPM and lost 5hp in the process.

Umm, 7.7 seconds for a FWD RX330, and 7.8 for an AWD RX330.

Just wait until the RX 330 Hybrid comes out.
It'll be the fastest 0-60 Lexus built.

C'mon Ray. You know better than that... five extra horsepower will not necessarily make you car faster. Just swap to a higher stall convertor and/or get the TRD LSD.

yah 5 hp won't make the difference, but I remember you told me that it had something to do with ignition and spark plugs which could affect performance (i think that was 2 years ago)

As someone who has had both a '98 and a '00 GS300 I can tell you that the '00 is definitely slower than the '98(Lexus is not lying). At first I thought there was something was wrong with the '00 I had but it checked out fine(car only had 17,000 miles on it). Then I learned about the additional weight added to the 2000's/ the power loss and it all made sense. I honestly think it would be a waste to mod an '00 GS300 just so you could say "my '00 GS300 is just as fast as a '98" or slightly faster. LSD/ stall alone isn't going to bring the car below the 15 sec. range in the 1/4 so it is pointless IMO. I don't think the difference('98 vs. '00) is huge but it's definitely noticeable and in a thread about 1/10th of a second I guess it's relevant .
