Default New to GS300, few issues

Hi, first I'd like to say hello to everyone, I am new to owning a GS300, or Lexus in general, but by no means am I new to cars.

I bought my GS300 today, but there's a few problems that I noticed.

First, when I have the heat or A/C on, it won't switch to anything except face. (Won't go to defog, feet, or any combination of the three).

Secondly, when I hit the lock/unlock button on my key, only the passenger doors lock or unlock, the driver's door is completely unaffected. I have to manually unlock and lock the door. Also, the car doesn't beep or make any noises when I lock/unlock.

Any ideas as to what this stuff could be?

The lock/unlock issue is mostly likely the door lock acutuators which is a common issue with the GS.

Here is thread for reference: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...ators-diy.html

For climate control it could be the mode servo that's bad. Usually they make a horrible noise while trying to change outputs.

DIY Climate Control Servo replacement: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...vo-motors.html

DIY Door Lock Actuator replacement: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...ators-diy.html

I have those bookmarked because I have to do both of these repairs on my GS in the future

I didn't bother to read the stickies because I have no idea what was wrong with the car to begin with...

But now that I know it's most likely the actuator and servo, I'll go ahead and read the sticky with DIY.

Yes the mode servo sounds like it need to be changed and door lock actuators on the drivers side (very common). The no beep issue is a customizable feature.

Exactly. For example for my S14 on Zilvia, the stickies are all useful because I know what I am looking for in the case of those cars.

Yeah that's what I read from a quick search, but the thing is, that mine doesn't make any noise. Just refuses to switch altogether.

Ohhh ok, so I can change the setting to make it beep or not beep? I'll look through the owner's manual that came in the glovebox.

Probably not. The car waits until it knows the doors are all locked/unlocked before beeping, so if the actuators have gone out it won't beep.

I beg to differ...
