Unfortunately no resolution to the ticking noise. I believe, and certain techs believe, that indeed it could be something on the belt (AC, powersteering pump, etc) as the ticking matches engine speed. I'm going to have a non-Lexus shop look at it as I'm convinced that since Lexus' don't break, their techs don't know how to fix any serious problems.

Try turning the AC system off to see if you can at least pin point the cause of the noise. Good luck.

I've got a GS300, so the power isn't enormous but it's more than perfect for daily driving. The interior is amazing and hell, i'm more than fortunate enough to even have this car at my age -- 10.

The seats go far enough forward for a 10 year old to drive. Maybe, it's the simple life in reverse..

9 for me because of the mooshy suspension as stock.
It's a different story when modded.
94,000 miles and had to replace a starter and throttle accelerator.
Other than that, no problems whatsoever.

we'll give it a 8.5 because it's...how can i say...like a "bear on ice skates" when driving in the snow
i envy all of my fellow G owners that don't have to deal with snow.

I Can't even think about comparing the 5 Series to the GS. my 2k GS3 was bought new. after
a test drive i immediately traded in my Tercel (completely stripped) and never even bothered
to go back to check out the Benz boys again. this is my 4thToyota and i've driven all but one
of them over 100k miles..

Dealer buy was a horror. actually, i think it was a marathon it took HOURS, but the
service has been good ever since. they don't sound like the jerks others have mentioned.

my wife hears the rattles in the roof cover but beyond that the car is a dream. i've not had
a major problem in 50k+ miles. now that i'm sure it's broken in it's time to start with the mod's.

Speaking of breaking in, i'm in the same position you are, ThemisN. my car was targeted
three times in 2003. Changing locks that often is no joy.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, crew.

The engine is great but last year has been really poor for problems. I have a still not resolvable heating problem, right front caliper piston seized, driveshaft bearing had to be replaced and the stereo is intermittant.
For a 4 year old car with the reputation for quality like Lexus this experience is only so-so.

All things considered, it would be an insult to give this car anything less than a 10. With out a doubt the most reliable sports sedan in the market today. Hands down
