This is not true. The VVT-i 2jz is interference, where as the non VVT-i 2jz isn't.

nope, all Toyota timing belt motors are non interference other than the 1uz and the 3uz v8 motors.

You're absolutely entitled to your own opinion, but facts are facts; the 2JZ-GE VVT-i, which is what the OP has, is certainly an interference engine.

Things can always be corrected as long as you don't start the car.
2JZVVTI is an interference motor. Along with all Toyota V8's...

Ive had the Luck to experience two water-pump failures on two GS4s... One destroyed my engine.. the Other did nothing...PURE LUCK...

That Timing belt and Water pump can be time bombs if your not careful with your maintenance..

On my last timing belt replacement, one sprocket moved a notch when I put the belt back on. I didn't notice it, but a buddy of mines did. Thank God! I would've double checked anyway, but still.....

Sure can. That water pump is the catalyst of the timing belt. Must be maintained

This is interesting. I used to have a 01' GS430 that had a timing belt break on me. 9 valves were bent. I found that out when I had put everything back together with a new belt. I had called around a few Lexus Service centers and talked to a handful of Lexus/Toyota experts because I was getting mixed information, and they all told me the same thing. Only the UZ engines are interference engines and not the 2JZ.

^ You are the first person that I know of who had that belt snap on them. These belts are damn near teflon. How many miles did you have when it snapped???

4AGE is interference. Don't spread misinfo if you don't know what you're talking about

Just thought I would throw my 2 cent's worth into the interference/non-interference discussion. Here is a link that list all motors.
