Valve cover gasket replacement Qs
I'm planning on replacing the valve cover gaskets with my spark plugs in the next months or so, and was wondering two things, 1. How tight are you supposed to torque down the valve covers when you're done, I don't want to ruin the gasket or have it leak again, or do you not really have to torque it down precisely, I don't even have a torque wrench at the moment.. And was wondering if you can just do it by eye, also where are you supposed to put the RTV on the gasket? Any input is appreciated, I've never done VCGs before, but seems easy enough to save 400$

i have never torqued mine before. i have been working on cars for 12 years though. if its your first time i think you should use a 1/4 torque wrench so you can get the feel of how tight its suppose to be. g/l

I too will be replacing my valve cover gaskets soon. I have seen the videos that Jeff has about replacing the valve cover gaskets when replacing the timing belt. He demonstrates replacing the timing belt, etc. on a motor that has been removed from the car. The throttle body and Y tube have been removed. I know I will have to remove the throttle body. But will I have to remove the Y tube also in order to replace the intake valve cover gasket?
