Default rough idle issue

Just bought a 98 gs300 and I'm wondering what the issue may be.
When I come to a stop the car starts idling roughly and the car begins to shake. After 30 seconds or so I can also smell a faint gas smell. It doesn't die when it's doing this.
I've searched for the issue on the forum and couldn't find anyone with a similar issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

It's possible u have a bad oil control valve, I would have poor idling , cel, almost ready to stall at red lights and shaking, But I NEVER smelled gas, that's what's throwing me off..

same as mine right now. it has a rough idle at 1500rpm (usually at 1000rpm) but i tightened up the throttle cable to prevent it from dying. I don't know why I'm selling the gas scent so much though. I've ordered a new TPS sensor and waiting to see if it's the fix. I've checked the MAF (cleaned it too), APPS so far and seem to be good too. Crappy thing is they don't send codes sometimes (TPS) if it's failing.

It's really weird too, when the car hasn't been started for a few hours and it's cold it's fine. Once driving for about ten minutes it'll start doing it again.

could you just up and develop a bad oil control valve? or does it throw a code when it happens?
