Default How much slack should the throttle cable have?

Noticed there's some slack with my throttle cable, should there be any at all or should it be tight enough you can't move it? My car seems to accelerate fine but thought maybe it's been like this since I got the car so maybe I was used to it, I've heard if it's too tight you could break it though

Typical slack on cables is 1/8" to 1/4". This slack allows the two things to be independent ... here the idle speed is controlled by IACV and not the tension in the throttle cable.

Since I have a lead foot the slack in the cable does not make a difference in the instant I push the pedal and the valve opening up.
