From what I heard, the V8's are rare, though the Sports Design is nice it was made co-current with the GS300's. I always wonder why make the Sports Design in a GS300 where they should of made them as a GS430. The GS430 is a faster car than the GS300

The must have did the SD version purely for looks and paired it with the 300 as my understanding is the 300 was the better selling trim given the cost premium of the V8. The 3.0 inline 6 is a great engine, but certainly the V8 has the power advantage. Either way, you can't go wrong with a GS :-)

I prefer this one though,, price kinda high.. but its a better SD example in your area.. -- http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hn...279713357.html
There's another one I've been eyeing http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hn...282489682.html
Actually a diff SD but same color combo, if I had more money of probably sell mine and get it

i remember seeing a video that some dude posted on the clublex fb group of his son's gs300. he has 349k with orginal motor and trans in it and it still ran like a brand new car. i was weary on buying a gs with 164k on the dash but when i saw that, i knew these miles werent a big deal. toyota/lexus did a geat job building these cars.

Man that thing is a living legend. Also priced very considerably ... Love seeing these cars with high mileage. Makes me love mine and want to maintain it even more

the downside to having a car with a lot of miles is that it's almost certain to be totaled if anything happens to it. I don't care if you took very good care of it, if it's damaged and has a lot of miles on it, that will weigh against you in keeping the car. I'm enjoying the low miles I'm putting on my car now. I've only put 3200 miles on my car in 7 months. I gotta take that oil out of there this weekend. Stop n go is much worse off on oil vs. highway driving.

That's badass, something like that is all I want to come across. Solid winter beater right there! I would pay without hesitation... but come to canada that basic GS3 becomes 6k for an '01, and traveling down there flying/importing = not worth it.
Not really. People on CL are typically cheap... and the bozo on ebay thats been selling his saddle seats for the last 3-4 yrs for over 1200$ isn't moving very many of his SD parts. There's a few sellers on ebay that are marking up their values, fact of the matter is, money talks. And people are the source of that money...
I parted out two GS' way back. It was always a fight over chump change. You buy it, you're sitting on it. Might as well drive it!
The downside of any car not in this decade my friend....
It's a TWELVE year old Lexus... who cares? Get another, or a newer one with the cheque insurance cuts you... *as a down payment of course.
