Question 2000 GS 400 Help!!!

I'm slightly confused, I'm contemplating getting a 00' GS 400 blk/blk 35k every option except nav & 17in whls...for $30,600?
There are no dents, dings at least that I can see. Does this price sound good???

Secondly I have never owned a Lexus GS series sedan and I'm 6'4" Can anyone out there relate...Will I feel crammed or what?

Before sealing the deal...I'm thinking of getting Lexus's pre-purchase inspection...will they really put me on to any problems
or are they out for the cash?? Does anyone have any recommendations on pre-purchase inspection sites for lexuses
in the Atlnata area??

Sorry for all the questions but I'm trying to be as informed as possible..

Thanks in advance!!!!!

that is a good price...go to your local dealer and try on a new one for size...look for all VIN stickers on all major body panels

yeah that's about right, just like what gs4will said. take you time, try out everything including power mirrors, etc....

also check the vin number

and sit in the car first to see how it fits for sure

Talking

And ask the service guys to pull up the service history of the car; all service performed at Lexus dealerships will be in the database for that car. Hopefully, no unaccounted for gaps.........

I'm 6'-2 and barely fit. I would expect that at 6'-4 you would be very uncomfortable.

My dad is 6'3 and drove the GS with the seat a lot closer in then I drive it, Im only 6'0, so its got to have enough room....

Go to a show room and see how a GS feels. For example I got in the IS and it felt too crapped especially when I moved the seat to a comfortable position and then I checked the room in the back seat...There was none....

biggadan-u, do not have Lexus inspect the car. Have a mobile Inspection Service inspect it. Preferably one that does not do any repairs/ specializes strictly in inspections(will make them impartial).

Depends on your torso/leg ratio. I have long legs but shorter torso and I'm 6'3" and my GS is no problem at all (I'm not even that close to the roof). Since the front seat has TONS of travel I'm fine on leg room too.

But I've met shorter people than me whose head hits the ceilings in MANY cars because they have shorter legs and a very long torso.

I'm 6'4" and fit quite nicely in my GS. Seat is all the way back and down, but my headroom is fine. If you have big hair or a long torso, you might feel cramped ;-) I totally agree with the above posters. I purchased my '01 GS (see signature block) with 17" rims and 48k miles for $39k. It was $2k below below dealers Kelly Blue book and pretty solid for the market in my area. I took the car to a body shop I trusted AND to my mechanic. They both like helping out customers and gave my car the once over. The body shop found a small painted area on the back drivers bumper... very subtle! But, as he was going around the car, he told me about all the things to look for... original VIN stickers on ALL doors (illegal to replace the stickers on a replacement door), screws not totally lined up (exposed new metal below screw head), paint lines that extend only rubber molding (like around the headlights... this is an incredibly common phenomenon and I don't know if it's because so many cars have been in accidents or if they just use really bad painters to touch up their cars prior to selling), doors/trunk/hood doesn't close or line-up proprerly. To tell if the rear quarters have been hit/replaced, look for small indents on the top flat surface of the trunk where the deck lid touches it. They do NOT come with indents on aftermarket pieces. Probably more info than you wanted, but I learned a lot from the body shop. My mechanic is also great about teaching me how to look out for this stuff myself. I hope you enjoy your buying experience and your new car is great! Let us know how it goes!!!
