Default Help!! Weird sound from Driver Side with A/C on

Hi all,

I have 2001 GS300 and about 5 months ago there was a noticeable noise from the driver side dashboard (maybe the air tunnel) when I turn on the A/C. It sounds like air leaking from a hose and sometimes it feel like the leaking air with water (kinda like those home A/C mounted on the window.) I took the car back to dealership and they told me its normal, but I don't recall to have such noise before! Anyone here knows anything about this or have the same experience?

Default I have same thing

I have 2003 GS300 and I have exactly same sound you have.
I checked 3 brand new GS300 at the dealership....they all have same sound....it is normal...don't worry...
I know it made me crasy before I knew it is normal.
sometimes it sounds like microprocessor sound.

Unhappy sigh~

My worse fear is confirmed then. This is kind of weird because I don't think I had that problem before and my SC300 never generate such noise!! I guess by making the interior so quiet actually make that noise even more stand out. Anyone else has the same problem? Thank you for the post, newyorker!

I've got a 98 GS4 and that same noise is present in my car. As a matter of fact, it seems to be getting worse (louder) every year.

I've just started to notice a fan noise that sounds like a high pitched squeal/squeak, like the fan needs a shot of WD-40. Anybody else notice this?

Default i think you have the same problem.

ex996,

I think you have the same problem. I have to say my is getting louder as well, and this is just over a period of 5-6 months. One more note, couple times when I switch the fan mode from "Head" to "Front windshield & Leg Area" I heard the switching panel with some type of hesitation. It seems to me that the door that control the air flow from the A/C has problem. Sorry guys, but it is really hard to describe the sounds. Hope you guys know what I am referring to.

It's the condensation from the A/C unit being shipped out...It's only a problem if you start noticing water on the car floor which means that the hose is blocked. Other than that, I wouldn't worry about it. Turn the radio louder!

GSXOTIC: I have the same noise in my GS. At first, I thought something was wrong with my AC. But when I brought it to the attention of my trusted service tech, he assured me the noise was normal.

Yep. I would say that everything is normal. Even the airflow control panel making noise is something I have noticed in my car and in others.

Hey guys. I realize this is an old thread, but if any of you are still on the forum, how did you resolve this issue? I have a 99 GS400, and mine a/c sounds like crickets chirping in the distance. It's very faint, and probably wouldn't be noticeable in any other car, but it's still annoying. I have been able to pinpoint that it's definitely the a/c and not the blower motor because the noise goes away when I turn the a/c button off (while leaving the fan on). Is this just a drive belt issue? Is that an expensive fix?
