Hello everyone,
name is Paulo and just turned 35 and hopefully will be a dad for the first time next days! Well i’m a petrolhead and this is my first Lexus. I also have a 99 e39 touring, a 92 miata and a 2017 Seat Leon , but i was always keen on IS series and also GS.
I am from Portugal, naturally born in a small island called Madeira, looks a lot like hawaii since i have also been there and thay are virtually alike, but now living in Lisbon (capital).
about the lexus, well here these cars are expensive, a good 99 is200 (because the 300 is impossible to find) will cost you 7000usd and a good gs300 around 8000usd so i never really got into lexus. Recently i was going to the local craiglist as we all do daily ahaha and found this 99 gs300 looking very good, 196000km around 120000 miles and lots of maintenance done in dealer shop, went for a ride and got in love with the car so after negotiating a few euros i came home with the car. Car is a Base model or so it seems and has had the timming job done including waterpump all in the dealer.
to do’s: well only two things i just found are the radio lcd which looks like a common problem and the valve cover that is leaking and also a common problem.
So great to find out about this forum and see you around!

Hello fellow members!
I just purchased a 02 gs430, can't wait to drive this bad boy everyday. I've been on the hunt for a decent Lexus for quite some time. I was more interested in the ls but I stumbled upon some GS and realized it fit me better. Plus I used to see the Gs in some hip/hop videos back in the early 2000s and I'm a sucker for nostalgia. (90s kid)
Anywho, my gs is onyx black I believe and tan interior. Seems like it has everything, nav, sunroof, power everything, even down to the leaking/faulty brake master cylinder lol. Thanks to the forum i.feel more confident in replacing it myself.
Speaking of myself, i'm 28yo, I've been an automotive/diesel tech for 10 years. My other ride is a 2000 vw jetta vr6 with a golf front end swap. Setup for a little bit of autocross with lowering spring some polyurethane bushings, aggressive pads, rear sway bar, and a ton of maintenance.
I've also owned
04 dodge stratus r/t coupe
01 vw passat 1.8t w/stage 2 chip
12 Chrysler 300 v6
08 wrx w/stage 2 tune,3in exhaust, intake

Attached is a pic of my new 98 GS300. Bought it at an auction with a bad harmonic balancer and a few oil leaks. Fixed the engine items, lowered it on KSports, found some wheels (20x8.5, 20x9.5) on OfferUp, new drilled and slotted rotors and new pads, new window visors, new head and tailights, LED/HID lighting throughout, new Pioneer double din with Android Auto. interior is super clean.
Coming up, rear fender work, new sub........daily driver so my M3 can rest for a bit.

Hello all, I'm JT. I live in North Georgia, and I both fabricate as well as build harness' and install them into kit cars, which at the moment are Ford GT's. I've been lurking around for a bit and have got some really good info on a few things, so I figured I would register to return the favor if possible. My car is as follows:
148k
Millenium silver exterior
grey interior
platinum edition
20x10.5 & 20x9 Axe gunmetal wheels, Toyo proxes
Pioneer NEX, b/u cam, Pioneer 8604 & 9601, Epicenter, Soundqubed HDS3 15", 4) Polk Audio 6.5 coax, 4) Polk Audio 5.25 coax in rear deck, sound deadening on all the doors deck trunk/trunk lid and floorplans, made new mesh grills for the doors and deck, 0 ga, big 3, 2 batteries in rear, custom trunk.
Changed the wood trim to a brushed steel vinyl. Not sure if I like it yet but its growing on me. Repainted the ac panel, dash kit, ashtray, and cupholder/shifter trim. Projectors (hate em, about to get something different) , led fogs, all led interior lights, as well as led's in the doors lighting the pull handle, opening handle, and lower pocket. Compustar alarm/remote start/drone.
I'm still working on the audio, still have to cover the rear deck and trunk. It's been great so far. It leaked some when I first got it, so I changed the cam, crank, and valve guide seals. I want to lower it just a bit, but my work has an extremely steep incline for the driveway and it would be a pain. Still might.

1998 gs 400
Hi everyone,
I am Ken
Just bought it used 3 days ago. It has 280,000Km on it and needs a few things. I am looking for the actual rocker panels under the car as the originals are badly rusted having been on Canadian roads for 30 years. I have yet to find a parts supplier and am starting to think I may need to find a welder to remove, build and replace the rockers. Any info or suggestions are welcome.

Greetings!
Greetings Fellow GS owners, My name is Andrew I live in Georgia, USA and I'm a first time Lexus owner.
I just purchased a 2001 GS300 for my daughter and this is my first foray into owner forums. I'm a former general aviation airplane mechanic so I'm not too intimidated to get my elbows greasy and love working on cars. I love how the car drives but (understandably with a car this old) there are a few issues that - perusing the forum already - look like typical issues (intermittent chk eng./ VSC OFF lights; auto door locks, radio, hood risers, etc.)
Just wanted to introduce myself and say thank you in advance to everyone who helps me in the future with the several issues this car has.

Pride n' Joy
Hello fellow CL members!
I've been a follower for a few years, but never registered or decided to give back to the community till now. Guess later is better than never.
I will start with the car details; then youay choose to stick around for a little history of the car.
1998 GS300
Black Exterior
Black Leather Interior
Stock 2JZGE engine and Transmission
Just past 233k miles!
I own a 1998 GS300 which my father bought brand new. Black exterior and Black interior. 2JZGE engine which is all stock and religiously maintained. He bought the car due to my infatuation with the 2JZ engine which to this day I will always say it is a modern engineering marvel! Obviously the Supra was not a practical family transport so the GS was the best alternative. Beautiful timeless design and an instant classic in my opinion.
Before he gave it to me it was in a tiny fender bender and bent the bracket at the passenger fender where the fender meets the bumper. I took over ownership in 2014 and have had some ups and downs.
About a year later the serpantine belt shredded on the highway after the AC compressor pulley seized. That was a fun rebuild. Taught myself HVAC systems and rebuilt most of the AC system. Didn't have the know how to take the entire dash to get to the evaporator. Had the car running for another year before I really mucked things up; real bad. Battery died and when I put the new one in I had the battery reversed. When I hit the positive side the the alarm went off. Tried again, same result. Looked at the situation and to my dismay I fried a few things. FML.
Fast forward to two months ago. Car sat around for 3 years as I chased down a few phantom drains and issues causing the battery light. New starter, new alternator, and a few cable repairs. Always Denso parts no matter how long the wait
Since it sat for 3 years I did all the right things, in my opinion at least, to bring my baby back to life. Drained the old fuel, oil change, new spark plugs, tires. Fired up like a champ for a month. Then I hit a idle position sensor failure and the fuel.pump failed. Replaced the whole throttle body component, Ouch to the price, but local Toyota dealer got me the part for $685.
Drives like a champion and we just past 233,000 miles. First goal is to hit 350,000 miles. I have learned a lot over the years working on all my other vehicles; current list includes 2016 Lancer GT 2.4L 2004 Ram 1500 5.7L V8 Magnum, 2010 Chevy Malibu (me and this car simply hate each other, so much!), and my pride and joy, the Lexus.
I am looking forward to helping out other members and learning more over the coming years.
