Hi,
I'm Joseph, recently just purchased a 1998 GS300 lexus
I bought it with 250,000 kms and it broke down within buying it for $1200
My mate and i figured it might be the throttle position sensor and we are on the lookout for a throttle position sensor to come by
The color of GS is maroon/burgundy color. There's scratches all over the car but engine and interior of car seem very healthy for its age
Im hoping to VIP Mod the Gs300

Hey all! New to the forum!
I bought a 2000 Lexus GS400 in Cinnabar Pearl a couple weeks ago and I LOVE it! Gas is kinda crappy but i knew what i signed up for. Ride is smooth, car is beautiful, and it can go faster than I expected.
Since owning it I've had replaced the charcoal canister and put in floor mats. Windshield wipers were done, so I redid those. I'm planning on keeping this mint, which I know won't be cheap but I'll be fixing it up over long periods of time .
The back door doesn't lock or unlock with the key fob or the button on the doors, so I have fix that... somehow. The driver window doesn't work so I have to fix that too. Other things I wanna do to this car is get the OEM floor mats because it didn't come with any, redo the paint because of paint chips and all that (that's like the last thing I want to do because its gonna be EXPENSIVE), tint the windows (although I'm not entirely sure what the tint laws are), fix the wing because it's kinda loose, install a discreet bluetooth connection for my phone while still having tape player, CD player, and radio. I need to find a center console armrest because mine is slightly cracked, I need to find a dashboard cover that fits, and the light for the passenger seat heater doesn't come on and I want to fix that somehow too. One way or another this car is going to look and feel brand new. I also want to get the gold badges instead of my chrome ones, I feel like that will look better tbh. Another small thing I need is the trunk button cover, because mine is just a metal switch.
Hopefully there's meet ups here, I'd like to learn from you guys! Message me suggestions or anything if you have any.

Very nice pickup! I love this color combo!
I'm sure once you get all those little issues addressed, the car will look and feel brand new again!

Just bought a Silver with Black interior 2001 Lexus GS430 today! It was always garaged when not driven and has 298,000 miles on it. It looks and drives like it has 75,000. I'm the third owner and have been given the 1'" thick folder with all the maintenance and repair work that has been ever done on it. Zero rust, and a clean clean leather interior as well. It has the Mark Levinson Audio to boot. Every item in the vehicle works flawlessly. I was able to haggle the guy down almost 2 Benjamin's and drove it home for $1850.00 bucks. I'm in love!

Howdie! I'm in SoCal and have acquired my sons 98 GS300 with 210K miles. He had it for several months before some hardships struck and I am trying to get caught up to speed on the whole Lexus scene as I am coming from the RWD Volvo world (I have an 84 @40 wagon that has a ford T5 trans, 4:27 gears, truetrac, and an 8V motor that'll likely get an S200 turbo after getting the head completely worked and forged internals). My son will want this car back at a later date and I would like to return it with all the stage zero maintenance done and new bushings + Bilstein struts, etc. I'd like to see him get more attached to the car and move forward keeping and maintaining older cars instead of on the rat wheel needing the newest thing. There are a few cosmetic issues I would like to address as well. The lower door trim is hanging, the little sunglass compartment in the center console will not shut. The window in the climate control unit is scratched to the point it's hard to see the readout when the sun is shining on it.
The car is Burnished Gold Metallic, I just clay barred the car and the paint sparkles like new.
EDIT: I don't understand this forum in the way the pages of a thread are presented. Historically forums I am familiar with have a given number of posts on a page and you click on the next page to continue to see the information on that thread. ClubLexus seems to just continue scrolling down right into potentially another thread. I find this difficult to follow and images take a long time to download (I'm in the rural San Diego County) since there can be so much info on a page. Is this a setting I have preselected in my new account? Is there a way to change to a more conventional viewing format?

Hey guys! My name is Tramaine! I’m a new owner of a 2000 Lexus GS400. This is my first Lexus. So if you guys got any heads up about how I can take care of my baby please tell me all the details and what things y’all recommend to keep this car running.
1. Exterior Color-Silver
2. Interior color choice-light gray
3. Major Options or special packages-Spoiler
4. Audio Options- Mark Levinson
5. Any modifications-No
6. I have concerns and I’m wondering if you guys have any suggestions on what I can do to fix it. I notice my power steering fluid runs low, where can I get a new seat belt for my driver seat for cheap( I called my Lexus dealer and they wanted $626 to replace JUST THE DRIVER SEAT BELT,not including labor)but’s it’s to be expected from the dealer obviously, and I want to know where I can buy a reliable remote key. Right now I just have the master key and want a remote key as extra. Thanks guys and I love seeing other 2nd generation owners out there!!

Check the front lower ball joints for play. They are a weak point of the car. Seat belt from ebay or a junk yard. Get a 2GS key and you can program it with your car assuming your current key is the master key

Hello all! I'm Charles and am in Central Florida.
This is sort of a odd post, but here goes...
So within the next couple of months or sooner, I will be taking delivery of a 2nd gen pearl white GS400. It's all original, in great shape all around, no leaks, everything works perfectly, has brand new tires at all four corners, and has 197k miles on the clock. I will be the 3rd owner of this car, and the 2nd owner has been a long time friend of mine. She purchased this GS400 last Sept for her mother only for her mother to take ill the following month. Then a few months ago, she unfortunately passed away. However, in this past year, my friend has been driving it and maintaining it and driving it once or twice a week.
I told her that is she ever wanted to sell it, to let me know because I was thinking of selling my current car for something bigger (messed up knee and hip from bicycle stunts and such in my youth). She said she actually was thinking about selling, so that got me to decide to sell my daily, a 2016 Nissan 370Z. I'll most likely be selling it with all of the mods installed as well as the stock parts.
As you can tell, I prefer keeping my cars simple and clean, looking almost stock. I plan on doing the same with the GS400. Just subtle tweaks here and there as well as some performance tweaks just to liven up a 20 year old motor and transmission. I also plan on transplanting the majority of the sound system from the Z into the GS, totally geared to SQ and a total stealth install.
Anyway, I'll update in this thread when I finally do take delivery of the GS. Until then, I'll snoop around here gathering information, asking questions, probably buying up some parts and joining in on conversations.
Talk soon!

2001 GS300 for a friend
Hello all,
My name is Steve and my buddy just bought a 2001 GS300 with 228k on the clock..and a tough history as it seems. He's not very car savvy and I'm his mechanic, so I get to post to the forums and fix his problems! Anyway, his car is silver with black interior, no premium audio (though I do believe I will be upgrading that as well), and the cars options is the spoiler. No modifications.
Right now its got gremlins everywhere. Misfire codes, the wiring is a mess, the VVT-i oil seal is puking all over the timing belt, the door panels on the interior are rough, blown speakers, and 3 of the 4 door lock actuators are inop. You'll absolutely be hearing from me on the repair forums

What's up CL family. Back again with another Lexus picked up 99 GS300 with 179k on the clock and no codes or lights on the dash. Every feature still works except the driver door lock which doesnt lock only with the key. Also want to pick up a copy as I only have a master key (all black key I believe). Thanks to the forum did the routine maintenance and slowly doing the tranny flush every oil change. Definitely looking to 2J swap in the future. Coming back to a Lexus man I forgot how smooth and quiet these cars are with a solid feel

Well here's an update for you guys...
I'm typically really good with cars and such, and this day when I saw my friend's 1998-2000 "GS400", we were busy at work, it was starting to rain out, and I was nursing a rather strong migraine. So here I've put my 370Z up for sale and have been researching and planning upgrades for my near future GS400.
Yesterday, I asked my friend to send me the VIN so I could do a little research on the actual vehicle, look at the history, etc, etc. When I received the VIN in my text and when I got home last night from work, I did a Google search on that VIN, and what did it pull up?
A 2001 Lexus LS430!!! (12/00 build date on the sticker - #198)
Holy smokes! I was excited enough to get a near mint GS400 at a great price, but to get a near mint LS430 for that same great price?! Yeah, I'm beyond excited!
I must have really been preoccupied with stuff going on at work and my migraine to remember this car as being a GS400. They don't even look alike. There WERE four things that stood out to me when I did see this car briefly that day, it didn't have a NAV screen in the dash (which I didn't want anyway), it had wood trim on the steering wheel, it had smaller wheels on it (which means it's not the fancy version which is also a good thing), and that I knew for a fact that it had a V8.
She gave me her address since I'll be going over in the morning to look at the car. I pulled her address up on Google Maps, and as usual it shows her house and her daily car parked out front. I decided to click "left" to move down the road a little, and all of a sudden, I see a big white nose of an LS430 staring down the driveway.
Also, it turns out that she is the 3rd owner. The first owner only had the car about a year in 2001, then her aunt bought it and drove it for the past 16 years until she sold it to my friend, which she has only owned it for almost a year. On top of that, no accidents or anything like that, and she has ALL of the maintenance papers on it!
Yeah, I'm thrilled to say the least!
Man, I had to really be hurting that day to screw up my own memory of that car and thinking it was a totally different model.

Hello
I've been wanting a 2nd gen gs for the longest. Almost had my hands on a 98 gs400 1 owner low mileage 132k fairly mint condition but someone got it 2 hours before I was able to get to the dealership. I was however able to get a 2000 gs300 with tan interior. Needs a little but of love but got it fairly cheap. 122,000 miles. Runs strong has minor oil leaks and needs new cats.
Looking forward to learning the ins and outs of this car. As of right now I already know about the servo motor problems in the hvac tried to read about it someone posted a fix but I cant see it because I'm too new :-/ 30 posts AND 30 days seems a bit much but rules are rules....
