Default Mileage Check: Is 60k miles high?

How many miles do you guys have on your GS? I've got 59,900 on my odometer right now. Not too bad considering I bought my car in December of 1998.

So is 60k considered high mileage? I'm wondering how long my car will last if I continue to take good care of it. I'm in the market for a second car now, but would like to keep the GS for as long as possible.

Is 60k high for a 98? Naaah. I' approaching 60k on my GS. And even slightly modded, if you take car of them, still at the scheduled maintenance, the GS should last you until you decide to part with it.

INHOCJP. I've got almost the exact same mileage as you do on my 98, and I know of at least two other 98s in the same ballpark.

I think you're in line with the mainstream.

I saw a 98 GS at the Atlanta Auto Auction last week had 248,000 on it. 60,000 is on the low side of average.
Best Regards,
Bob

Talking

The Lexus V8 is quite robust; I have a close friend with an older LS that he bought used with about 25k on it back in '92. It now has almost 300k with nl maintainence on both engine and tranny. (He bought an '03 LS for his wife and just gave the older car to his 16 y/o son, so we'll see just how far it goes.)

60k is just getting broken in!!

my 98 has 145k on the odo...

another friend has a 99 with 50k...

i don't see any difference between mine and his.

just do regular services, fluid changes, and take care of the car

toyotas in the 200s and 300s are more common than any other vehicle...

Default Here's another guy with about that...

I have 57,300 on my '98, it's still a baby. I don't know if I'll keep it past the extended warranty (around 90k miles) or trade up to a gs430, but I'm doing all the required maintenance the right way just in case I keep it forever.

my '98 has 85K. No engine problems, but I have noticed I have a couple places where the trim of my car has popped out. Little crap, but it bothers me just the same.

I got my 98 Gs400 six months ago with 19,800 miles and now it's at 24,000 miles. I drive it mostly on the weekend.

when i got my car back in may 02, it had 59.9k miles on it. now i have around 68.5k miles on it. trust me, after owning cars that have went way past the 150k mark, 60k is nothing. like one guy said, it's JUST BARELY BROKEN IN.

Unhappy

I got my 98 GS400 in May 2001 with around 28K. It now has 39K on it. It's a CPO Lexus with the 3yr/100K extended warranty, so I'm cool for another year if there's trouble. I drive it mostly on weekends and the RX is the daily beater car now.

Even though the dealer and Lexus advertises that their CPO cars go through a rigid inspection (129 check?) and other requirements (age, mileage, maintenance, condition) before getting the CPO, I'm wondering how true that is. When I bought the car, I asked them about the CPO, and they said, "oh, we'll tack on another $700, our cost, and past it onto you for the extended warranty". So do they in fact go thru the 129 point inspection? I never got a sheet or sign-off by a tech on the inspection. I since asked to see the service history (supposely part of the CPO requirement) and there were some gaps on the service and including 12K on oil changes. The dealer said the previous owner probably brought it to an indy oil changer ???
