Exclamation Need advice regarding price/quality GS300

Hello there!!!
Im new here.
I newer drove lexus before...then... one day, when one of my friend took his dad's GS second gen to do regular service. I had chance to drove it... long story short: im looking for one right now )))

Before i newer even looking on car older than 4 - 5 ok 6 years old max. And where i am now? looking for car which is 9 year old (in best scenario)

I need some advice regarding car quality and which price should i put on it (all approximately of courses)

How much you would pay for 98 GS300 wth 280K (not miles), mint body (no rust) and good engine?

in bad scenario how much it would cost to rebuilt or even swap the engine? (parts/labour)?

And last one:
It will be hard to swap/rebuilt engine by myself if i do not know much about engines but technically savvy? And how many hours it will take (not counting eating/sleeping brakes)?

p.s.
Sorry if it was hard for you to read. English is not my language (just learning) (=

Don't worry so much about the age, more so the condition and maintenance history. My GS is now 16 years old and I trust it like I would a much newer car.

If the car has been maintained, you don't need to worry about a new engine for a long time even at 280k km.

Agreed. Pay attention to mileage / condition / maintenance. I bought my GS300 last summer when it was 11 years old. Only had 84k for mileage though and was in near perfect condition with all scheduled maintenance completed.

Bought my '00 GS300 a few years ago with 124k miles. It has 183k miles and runs like a car with half that many miles. The primary issues with these cars are the timing belt, water pump, crank and cam seals, valve cover gaskets, and ball joints. Ask the dealer about these items. The ball joints are a know issue so if they haven't been changed, do so ASAP. If you are mechanically inclined you can do most of this work yourself - I did.

I saw you are in Toronto. If i were you, there are 2 2003 sport design gs300s, both graphite gray on black, both with navi. Theres one for 6.9k with less miles, and the other is 7.9k with more, but in better shape and seems to have been taken care of a bit more. I'd highly suggest taking a look at these two. They are on kijii website.

unfortunately i don't have extra 3k just to buy it
i dont want to spend all money just for deal. i want to keep some for first maintenance so i can drive it right away after buying :-)

and from your post:
what is difference between gs300 and gs300s? Its suspension, engine or it just spoiler, rims and leather seats etc...?

GS300s is plural for more than 1 GS300, but there are the sport design versions which have much better interior with perforated leather and better wood trim.
