okay, a retrievable quote. It was quite easy to get the quote to $4500.00 living in S.F. So SF and Newark might be comparable in insurance rates.

I have both of my cars (97 Nissan Maxima SE and 99 GS400) insured by the same company and I pay $263.00/month (Canadian dollars) for both.

I am 40, no claims, no accidents and have had consistent insurance for over 14 years.

Converting that to US Dollars, it comes out roughly to $2,100.00/year for both cars! And about $1100.00 of that is for the GS! I am certainly not complaining. I live in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

Talking

In Dec. 2002 I traded a 1998 MB C230 for a 2003 GS430. Allstate Ins. Co. Did not know about this top 10 list because my insurance went down $86. Maybe some of you need to check with Allstate or move to Tennessee. .
Best Regards,
Bob

For a '03 GS430 and a '93 Camry V6:

491/ 6months or 982/annually (500 deduc. across the board)

This is an increase of 102 per year with the GS replacing a '00 328i. I'm surely not complaining.

meanboy, I have Mercury (also have them for a couple of houses as well). If it is not too much trouble, could you run the numbers for you with a like aged 540? Let's see if it is the car or if it is being 24, living where you live, and having a 300hp, $50K (or so when new) car. The whole point here is how much money you can keep in your pocket by driving a 540i not that 24 year olds are going to get hosed driving expensive performance cars. Been there, done that, but twenty five years ago. I assume if you drive a 82 Cavalier, the premiums would be more palatable.

Default Pretty lucky I guess

I'm paying about $700 per year with Allstate on my 1998 GS4, but I have 4 cars on the policy (multi-car discount ) and i'm 45, as well as having the homeowners policy with Allstate. No complaints.

Wait till you have to file a big claim with ALLSTATE! Talk about a living Hell! Do not sign anything right away with them or you might sign your rights away especially if you get hurt! Had to fight ALLSTATE two months calling them everyday to get them to pay for a total lose on the first floor of my Townhouse after a washing machice hose burst. They like to repair everything never replace. Do a search and check the horror stories online. They do pay but it is just to much hassle. Go with Geico for your car.

Well , I've been with Allstate for 20 years now, and my other cars have been hit on occasion, though it's always been the other party's fault, and my insurance never went up.

But yeah, it almost dosen't matter who you're insured with anymore, there are horror stories all over, given the right scenarios. I lump them (Insurance co's ) all together personally.

You are so right about Allstate. When my wife and I got first got married we bought an insurance rider on her ring. The diamond fell out of it and they refused to pay. They would not honor their own rider! I filed a complaint with the California State Insurance Commissioner's office and once Allstate got the complaint they immediately took care of the problem. I should not have had to complain to get any action. I haven't had any claims since so I stuck with them but I know the next time I do I will have to fight for our $$.

I did an online qoute with Geico and they are cheaper then 21st century or Progressive. It looks like I might switch to them unless I read somewhere that they are cheap on replacement parts. I would rather pay a little more to get OEM parts. State Farm is another company that will try to pay only for non oem parts. Watch those guys..

I think the key is that it's not your fault. But I think all of the ins. companies will raise their rates if the insured is at fault.

$860 a year for my GS300 with 35 miles driven per day, would be even lower if I had less of a commute.
