Now I know why the insurance on my 2003 GS430 is almost 20% higher than my 2000 540ia was.
I wonder if this has something to do with the alarm being disabled when you force open the door locks?

Don't think it has anything to do with the locks.
They raised the collision rate 50% on my GS3 on the next renewal(I have zero claims since 1994 and that claim was $1200) so I suspect they did the same on the GS430. The GS400 is slightly little cheaper then the LS400 though. I didn't price out the LS430.

I just moved from the 2nd worst (99 Corvette convertible) to the 3rd worst! But when I saw my premium for the GS430, I called my insurance agent and complained. He went back to the insurance company and they changed the rate category to a lower risk or something, and cut the rate from about $1800/yr to $1400 for full coverage $500,000/$500,000 with $250 deductible for collision.

My rating chaged from a 34 to 36 for no apparent reason. I am going to complain and I have already started shopping around. Unfortunately, so far the difference hasn't been all that great. We went from $1200 a year with 100/300/100 25k unin, comp/coll to $1900 500/500/500 25k uni, 250 comp/coll. That's a bit much considering we haven't any claims. We'll see what they can do when I give them a call.

Uh, I live in San Francisco and have a GS300...you don't want these rates. Use this zip code, 94118, and price it out yourself.

I always thought it was the other way around. Perhaps I will pick up a bimmer on my next car.

Decided to test out how much it costs for someone with a 99 GS400 and born in 1978 and commutes 25 miles to work a day. Driving record is clean and the driver has been driving since 1994. 879279036 is the number if you like to retrieve it. It came out to almost $4100 for a GS400 with 100/300 and 250 comp and coll. Plus, loan payoff insurance and $4k coverage to cover for mods.
So it just depends..
edit: Oops, progressive insurance is the one I did the quote with.
