1999 gs400 VS 1999 CLK430

MB is MB, there is no way Lexus can pass their prestige reputation.
CLK is a beautiful car, too bad it only comes in two doors, and no, people can not fit in the back comfortably. I love the new CLK, very slick and stylish. I would take that over the GS in a second.
GS is a great car, but as you all know, the body design is due soon, and why not just wait to see what it will be like.
Plus, I think CLK fits more like someone who's single or who's always on a go kind of, GS is more like a family and friends type let's chill sort of.
Have you considerred a pre-owned M5? put down 30G, get the rest in loan, you are all set for the fastest stock saloon senda in the world.
just my $0.02

i don't know how old you are but if you are under 25 then definitely go with the GS because a 2-door V8 like the CLK is going to run you a lot on insurance. For example I wanted to get the old SC400 originally and my insurance quoted me at $4200 a year (that idea got axed quick), as opossed to the GS400 which was still high but a lot less at $2600. As for quality I think the clk is not that nice on the inside and you will get a higher quality car with the GS in my opinion.

Although I really like the CLK, I'd still go w/ the GS. For me, I like owning the most current body style of a car. While the last generation CLK was/is a great looking car (epecially the 430 w/ the AMG kit), I'd have buyers remorse when seeing a new CLK on the road. At least with the GS, you'll have about a year and a half before the new model comes out. Not to mention you'll have one sweet car.

I had a superball party back in Jan. I was routing for the raiders but they lost.
Anyway, a friend of mine who came has a 2002 CLK430 designo edition in a chocolate brown color and the blue tinted windows. No doubt its a nice car but when we drive back to back, my blue mica GS turns more heads than his car does. I also driven his car and that car is pretty floaty as well in stock form. If you want good handling than you need to go to mods i.e. bilstein or CLK 55.
To make a long story short, when the game was over it snowed some somewhat in NJ that day. As he was cleaning the snow of his car, the rubber seal around his rear window just peeled off. He was not really happy with the car to begin with that when this happened he just lost it. He couldn't believe that the cheap quality of the benz. Since he came from all bimmers before, M3, M5, etc. he traded his car for a used 330ci and got some cash back. The CLK is also pretty loud especially when you stomp on it. I drove it and that quite frankly I was very disappointed. Still drives like a truck with that heavy torque feeling.
Your just going to end up buying the name and you will feel disappointed in the long run.
