Am I the only one happy with a 300? Maybe it's because I'm not trying to race people. Going 70 on the highway in a 300 feels the same as 70 in a 430 to me haha. As other people have said it really depends on a ton if things, the condition (those aren't the actual pictures of the car btw) condition, how desperate the owner is to sell it, and your market for these cars. I paid around 11 for mine 2 years ago but it had like 58k miles. Around here that 2001 would be going for about that asking price but based on all these threads I respond to for different models, it seems that lexus here tend to be a bit more expensive

Where I live there's few 300 and only 2 400's mine and other guy in blue that he's selling right now for 4500. Firm .
He has 19 on the clock. People the own a 300 and talked to them they wish they bought the 400 430 . Just to hear how my baby burns tires jajja. Lol.

is it slower off the line vs a gs4? yeah, but i don't care about that.
it has enough low end torque to where i'm not dying for more
it has enough passing power on the freeway
and i literally just cruise around on the freeway or am in street traffic situations (30:70)
and i don't gun it from a standstill so it's been everything i've asked of it.
that being said, those are nasty stock pictures probably from google images.
at 135k miles, if the condition (wear and tear, maintenance) is good i wouldn't pay more than 55 for that. go see it in person.

A bit faster? GS400 & 430 feels like a whole different car to me compared to a GS300. I rarely see GS4s in my area but plenty if Gs300. There was a kid driving a GS300 that I encountered that was surprised to see that I had a Gs400. He wasn't aware that Lexus made one! I think he wished he'd gotten a Gs400/430
What I find even more hilarious is the amount of people who have no idea that Lexus had a V8 version of these cars. I remember a guy at the gas station the other day didn't even believe me when I told him that my car is a V8. I literally had to open my hood to prove it to this cat. I have a feeling as this 2GS continues to age out as the years go by, more and more people will continue to think that all 2GS's are six cylinders.
By the way, I see 300's EVERYWHERE. Not a day goes by that I don't see at least 5 of them. I always look at the trunk just to see that it isn't a 400/430 and I crack a smile.

Here in AZ, I see a lot of bone-stock 300's, a few 400's but even fewer modified and I have only seen 1 or 2 430's. Granted, the demographics here lean more to the Impalas, Altimas, Chrysler 300s. The moral of the story is, if you find a good 400/430 buy it!!

Yea the 300 and 400/430 are damn near apples/oranges. Claiming that its a bit faster is absolutely ludicrous. 300 doesn't come close to sniffing the power that the 400/430 has.

Almost 2 seconds is a considerable difference...and we don't even want to go there in 1/4 mile times. The 400/430 is much faster, not a bit faster than the 300.

most get 300's over 400/430's due to maintenance costs. Maint cost on anything engine related is going to be half the time or half the money (depending on if you work on your on car). if my starter goes bad, i can have it replace in 30 minutes.....have fun on the 400. It's not all about horsepower/ torque to everyone. I have another car as a toy that i would rather sink my money into, my GS is my reliable daily, and when something goes wrong i want it fixed with the least amount of coin and time as possible. 300/ 400/ 430's are all great cars, but depending on what you want out of it will determine what direction you go with the engine choice.
