BMW 540iA - 52/48
Lexus GS430 - 54/46

If you can trust BMW web site.

Car and Driver confirms the GS400 weight distribution - 54/46.

so would this mean that with the proper modification, the GS could handle or even outhandle an M5? or does that have to do with the GS frame as well? I always hear about how BMW's handle and I wanna know is it just there suspension or does it go further then that?

it takes more than 50/50 to handle well. buy a GS with all the suspension goodies added could certainly outhandle a M5.

JDM Integra Type-R is nowhere near 50/50 but it still handles well.

You really think that a GS with upgrades suspension could outhandle the M5?? Idonno if i agree with you on that one, i think that might be pushing it a little...i could be wrong tho....thats just my 2 cents

i am sure a fully modded gs4 can eat the 540i sport at the curves every day, but m5 i might doubt a bit. after all it's a real sport car

I think it'll take a lot of modding for a GS to outhandle the m5. you can't just throw any ol' suspension setup under there...i'm riding on a stock GS suspension now and it scares me to death sometimes, compared to the ES I had w/ the strut bar. GS is way too comfy.
and yes, 52/48 sounds about right.

Esprit Aristo with alot of suspension mods outhandled an M5. That's when it had full interior also.

M5 is a sport sedan. But when a GS receives some nice track suspension stuff it's different. Might sound hard to believe but you guys need to know what's there for the GS and what's actually best (I never said L-tuned suspension would work. That wouldn't even beat a 540i)

i totally agree with Globe...
i had Ltuned suspension/front stb/rear stb
and that will not compare with a 540i sport..
at high speed turning if the ground is not even, then i feel that the GS's chasis is bending..not that bad but then you know what i mean...the chasis is not strong enough compared to 540i sport
but with TRD sways YEs it will be comparable with 540i sport and maybe outhandles it.now i have ADvox coilovers and full TOMs brace kits +TRd sways+ STBs i'd say its comparable with 330ci sport, cept that the weight difference plays a big roll on this one...just my 2cent
