Along these same lines. I was wondering if you could replace the GS300 2003 rear view mirror with a 2007 that has a compass and homelink built in? Has anyone done this and has it working? I cannot get homelink in the 2GS to train to Liftmaster 8550. When I go to homelinks site it starts with 2007.

I realize it’s been many months since you inquired about upgrading to a ‘07 or newer model mirror with Home Link and the compass. I got a mirror from a newer GS that had the Homelink built into it, and I liked having it in the mirror so I could use the original homelink spot to add some aftermarket switches for some LEDs. So I removed the original Homelink module and reran the plug down towards the windshield, then I snipped off the original plugs off the mirror and wired in a replacement I had laying around. The wiring is pretty straight forward, I installed mine a while ago, so I don’t have the exact wiring schematic on hand, but it wasn’t hard to locate the info, and the Mirror HomeLink now opens my garage. It’s a Craftsman, so I can’t confirm if it will work on your garage door but if the donor vehicle is claiming to be able to control your garage, it should work fine for u.
