Thermostat Housing Leak
Anyone have issues with this housing leaking? I remember when doing my timing belt, there did not appear to be a gasket when disassembled, so I reassembled without and it bled like a pig.
Took apart, resealed with silicone back in March. It was fine till recently. It's leaking again. Scratching my head. I've been running her pretty hard this month so Im sure that didn't help, but wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

WBX, thank you for your input. This is VERY helpful. I didn't notice such a gasket at disassembly but after looking it up again (something I did the first time) I realize that the pics which pop-up looking like a O-ring are infact the gasket in which you speak. I bet I tossed it with the old thermostat not realizing it wasn't part of the thermostat.
You justy saved me a lot of trouble and future expletives as I was going to go the same silicon route this weekend.
Many Thanks

Yup...this is exactly why I threw it away with the old thermstat. It looked like it was all one part. Smh....never seen a gasket quite like that. You live and learn.
Thanks again WBX.!

These gaskets aren't reusable. A new gasket should have come with the new thermostat.

Interesting...I'll have to check my thermostat when I open it. I really don't know if there's one on it. Im inclined to think there is not due to the leak I got the first time installing the new one. We'll see. If there isn't, I've already purchased a gasket.

Just to close this one out. Pulled my thermstat this morning and I DID NOT have a gasket on it. Placed one on, reinstalled without any sealant and no more leak.
Thanks again WBX for your input on this.
Capitone out.
