Hey guys, i've searched through the forums but couldn't find an answer(i'm surprised). Has anyone ever taken out their glove box 6 cd changer? Is that a DIN Slot, that perhaps I could just throw something like this in(just the bottom part, for storage)?
My goal is just to remove the cd changer and put a little storage compartment in its place. Let me know what you guys think about this. Thanks!
My 98 GS400 w/ the Nakimishi came with a little storage cubby hole next to the cd changer.
That said...
I removed my 6 cd changer and used the space to "hide" my iPod - "Stealthy"
The actual cd changer it self is about the size of a slice of bread and sits behind the CD cassette "flapper" door (it's the little window that you slide the cd 6pack thru/into)
Take out the box that holds the cd changer and you'll see what I mean - it's easy to do.
Note: While removing the cd changer will give you some extra storage space, access to that space is limited to the size of the "flapper" door (2"x 4").
You could just remove that "flapper" door I like that fact that it says "CD Changer" and I doubt many thieves would suspect any of value could be in there.
Behemoth7, see attached picture (if they're not too dark). I gutted the CD changer and made a make-shift storage compartment. Lined the inside with felt I bought at Michael's arts & crafts store. I opted to leave the CD changer door on it. I like it as an additional security measure as at first glance it still looks like a regular CD changer. Pretty sure no one under 50 uses CD's anymore so no reason to open it and steal the CD magazine believed to be inside. At any rate, it keeps the knick-knacks I do keep inside it from bouncing out.
