Interior Door Handle Question

Interior Door Handle Question
I apologize if this has been discussed but all I could find in a search was door lock actuators. I am having this issue with my front passenger door handle where it is stuck in the lock position. I have to physically reach over and push the lock into the unlock position, and then the door opens fine. After I get the door open though, it goes right back into the lock position.
I was told this was easy to fix by just taking the door panel off, but I haven't attempted to do so yet because I'd like to get some more information before I start messing with things. Any insight is welcomed, thank you!

Yes and No.This is the actuator. But it is rarely the whole actuator that goes bad. There is a small model car motor inside the actuator that usually goes bad. You can get 4 motors from eBay for about $20. One actuator will cost about $80. To replace the motor you have the open the actuator along the edge. You may need a sharp knife or a dremel-like tool. Once inside the actuator, the motor will be obvious. Pull the worm gear of the motor spindle. Pull the spindle off the motor axle. It may take a model plane gear puller to remove the spindle. The spindle has to go on the new motor so that the worm gear will fit. The model plane gear puller may cost $15.
Hope that helps.
