I must come to your help on this matter. My 1999 GS3 makes this rumble noise in the front of wheels when It hits 70 mph - 75 mph then smooth out, completely smoooooth out when i go over that "humb-speed" which isn't the coolest thing to do on I=95, I-476, or I-76 around Philly. It's east coast driving, 2-lanes and packed with lots of P.O.S. used Vehicle. I told the dealer about it, they said they can't replicate the problem since they can NOT test this car @ 70-75 mph speed in the shop, nor they will make the replication on the road themselves, even when they take the car out for test-drive after every service done on my GS3, this was the first time I told them about it. Second time, they gave me this explaination: "We checked everything (susp, shock, stearing etc.) and everything is A-OK. Your rumble noise maybe from the Tires" .
Is this a legit. or technically sounding to you guys? Don't know much about car, but if the tires are the cause of the rumble noise which only happens when the car is driven @ 70-75mph, this doesn't make any sense!
Any suggestion?

Sounds legit for the most part. YOU drive, and have a tech ride with you. Or, go to a tire shop, and have a tech ride with you.
Maybe a bent wheel or tire had gone out of round.

I have a 99 GS 300 also. I am here in philly too. When I am driving on 95 I do about 65-75 I have this vibration when I look at the passenger seat it is shaking like crazy. But soon as I get over 75 it feels like the car is just floating. I think that I have to get my wheels balanced. But I feel you all the way dude. What dealer did you tell about it. PM me when you get this

Hello Chuck. Philly in the house.
Hey Chuck Which dealer did ya go to? I would have to agree w/Dex. It's gotta be a couple of things.
1) Alignment & Wheels balance
2) Possible bent rim.
3) 99 GS3 have Steering pretensioners that may need tightening.
4) I get a thumping but it goes away after the tire has warmed up
hhhmmmm.What are ya riding on? 16 or 17 oem's?
What kind of tires?
Paul

I had a vibration at 60-70MPH on my 99 GS300, when I was riding on 17" stock. Plus the Michelin Pilot Sport were so loud. For the winter I put on my 16" stock rims with Good Year Invicta tires and they are so quiet and no vibration at 60-70mph. The GS has a sesnsitive suspension plus the 17" with the lower profile tire and wider, turn into noise. As for the vibration issue, The first thing you should do is balance and 4 wheel alignment. Then if that dont work tighten the pretensioner. Thats what Im going to do in Spring when I put on the 17"s.

Alignment & Wheels Balance just got done by Lexus, No problem that's what they say. No Bent Rim. But the "Steering Pretentioners" is new to me, Maybe I have to ask the Dealer to check and see if they need to tighten them. What kind of question or request I should ask them to perform on my GS3? I can change oil and light bulbs but comes to this stuff i am mechanically challenge hehehehe! This GS3 is BARED STOCK, 16" wheels. GoodYear Stocks tires!
One more thing: @ 85-90mph, my passenger seat vibrating, not only you can hear it, you WILL see the headrest vibrates!
