Lexus traction control saved my life
Today I learned that the stock 1uz/3uz engine has enough torque to break the tires loose at 45 while going over a slightly wet patch of water on the road. I usually drive with my traction control OFF & today I thank god I forgot to hit that button. all I remember is the car being at an angle, and I knew that angle was not a good angle to be at while going 40-45mph, and I found myself looking down a very very tall canal. I tried to keep calm and I made sure not to touch the wheel while it started to turn itself, right away the traction control kicked in and I found myself back in a straight line. I honestly feel that if I were in any other car besides my GS I would have been seriously injured or possibly dead. I Know traction control can be annoying especially when turning corners sharp and you get that fuel cut. but it is a safety feature and after this incident, I hope this thread would change some people's minds about driving with sport ON and traction control OFF. If any one has a similar story you should post it, we should talk about the cars saftey features for once and how it has benifited you.

Did it beep or just flash the dash light at you?
From experience, the traction control really means biz when it beeps.
It routinely saves my **** in the snow.
I won't bother asking why you drive with trac off...

I rarely drive with the traction control off. I discovered last year just how quick the car can be as I approached a tight turn carrying too much speed. I had just gotten the car and the traction control definitely saved me from heading off into the ditch.
Nowadays I turn it off only in the dry during low speed driving but that's on the odd occasion.

I am not understanding that logic. It's kinda like saying I want to turn my ABS off for fear of it breaking. The reason you have TC, ABS, etc. on is for those times when UNEXPECTED things happen. If you knew beforehand every time you would need it, couldn't you avoid the situation and therefore not need it?

Yeah that traction has save me twice on wet roads. Both times I was trying to accelerate to get away for slower traffic. One was a slight fish tail and traction got it back in line. The other was about to be a 180 lol. And yes the tires were in good shape.
