Lexus reliabilty downhill after 05-06?
Looking at getting a newer car and always look at consumer reviews of cars, I've noticed there are MANY complaints about nearly every model after 05-06 basically all the upgraded models, es350, 3rd gen gs, ls460, even 2nd gen IS, whereas our GS, ls430, es330 you can't find any complaints about.. Did lexus cheap out on those models? Anyone who owns one have any input?

can you aware me of the supposed complaints on the models you listed?
i had a 2gIS250 for almost a year and the only complaint i had was that it was underpowered.

I've noticed a similar pattern. As another poster mentioned, it could be due to newer engine technology that isn't as "tried and true" as the what the 2GS had. Just makes me want to keep my 02 GS300 for as long as I can despite being "tempted" by newer models.

I haven't heard much about the 2is other than the dashs in all of them can distort/ crack if you live somewhere hot, heard of paint on es350 chips ridiculously easily as well as weird transmission up shift/downshifts, engine in 3GS and is350 had a recall and have heard 3GS rattles like crazy and dealer can't fix as well as brakes go very fast and squeak, haven't heard any "major engine" problems but more little things than you'd expect, of course lexus has been ranked most reliable brand overall 3 of the last 4 years so they must still be good, I think mainly the first 2 or 3 years of the gs350/is350 had recall problems then was fixed there on out? I've spoken to 4GS owners and they've said no issues whatsoever

Someone else already hit on the point, but its a new series of motors, the direct injection is a newer technology that was not used extensively in the past.
I talked to a friend who is a service adviser and has said the new 250 series motors have a good amount of issues, pcv/rings/etc. The 350s apparently had a bit less than the 250s but still a bit more than the 2J/1UZ
With that being said I'll probably ride out my 2G for awhile longer, then maybe look into something else from another manufacturer, or wait for some newer Lexus stuff to come down the line (The new 2.0 Turbo looks to be interesting)

From what I've read it seems like most of the issues were from the first two years or so of the new engines/models so like 06-08ish obviously still more reliable than other luxury cars
