The ignition for my '99 GS400 went out the other day and I've ordered a new one that should be here Wednesday. I've taken some of the dash apart to get as far as I can. I've taken off the bezel around the ignition and gauges and taken the gauges out. The only thing in my way is a black piece of metal that looks like it supports the instrument cluster. It has one bolt in the middle directly below where the pivot for the speedometer never is. It looks like if I unbolt this the metal piece will come out and I will be able to access the two screws holding the ignition up. Am I right? I'll post pics when I get them tomorrow to help clarify.
