GS400 P0301 (CEL, VSC, & VSC OFF lights are on)
Hi, I have a Misfire on Cylinder 1 Detected. I'm stumped as to what more to do to further debug this. Below is what I've done.
- Changed all the sparks plugs (car has 235,000 miles on it so it was time for another set)
- All the same lights came back on (same P0301 code)
- Changed the coil on 1st cylinder and even swapped it with other cylinder
- All the lights came back on.. arrr (same P0301 code)
- Next I swapped the injector plugs from number 3 to 1 and 1 to 3
- All the lights came back on... misfire on cylinder one again (thinking at this time it's not the fuel injector)
I can't stretch coil plug wire, where I can plug cylinder 3 into 1. Anyway, seeing if you guys can further assist with debugging this issue. Only other thing I have noticed is the wiring harness for cylinder 1, one of the wire covering is cut (see attached picture). The actual wire seems to be fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

I assume you reset the codes. Some codes will not disappear on their own. If not, have the codes cleared and see if they come back. Also, that bare spot on the wire could very well cause it to short.

Yes, have reset the code every time. Thanks, will take a look to see what my options are on fixing the wiring harness.
