Thumbs up jeezzz

its bad when a 50k dollar car doesn't get you any type of respect it should, especially from the individuals who sold it. Its not lexus in general is it? Basically the regional area, Or is this trickle down to one certain place (corporate headquaters)?

Fireball. I'm not sure at this point if it's Lexus in general or not. It took 2 months to finally have someone from Lexus, not the dealership, look at my car. He did that today. He said that he's going to download the pics to the Lexus paint specialist and let him decide about the paint. Long story short is that until I hear from Lexus I don't know what is going to happen. Generally you can read a person, body language, voice inflection, that type of thing. I was left with the impression that the Lexus rep was not going to recommend that my car be replaced. I have the address for Lexus corporate headquartters and depending on what happens toward the end of the week I'll be writing a letter to the president of Lexus Corporation. I'll pursue it through a law firm if I don't recieve satisfaction that way.

I had the same problem with my 99 GS3. The sesson I learned from buying any Preowned, Brandnew car, Lexus, BMW, Mercedes or what ever. I will pay the money to have the care inspected by a good body shot. I purchased a 99 GS3 and the paint looked great. I decided to have a good body shop check the car, and he could tell the car was repainted before I drove into the shop. I found the car had been 95 percent repainted and was sold as a CPO. I took the car back and told asked the Preowned Sales Manager what happend? How could not had known the car had been repainted. He indicated the 98 percent of the CPO car's have had paint work before the are put on the lot. To mke a long story short, I went back and forward with the dealership. The dealership found me another GS3 and gave me the same amount I paid for it after driving it for 3 1/2 months. They took the car back, because I wasn't happy with my LEXUS. It depends on the dealership you deal with. I'm very happy with the dealership now....

Lexus Corp only warranty the factory paint job. They (Lexus) will CPO a car only if it has all the original body panels and if it doesn't have any structural damage. To answer the question, If they will CPO a car that has been repainted. Yes they will.

F.Y.I. Be careful when the dealership repaint bumpers or panels. I foundout that each dealership is different. If your car was repainted, you will have to take it back to the dealership that had it repainted if there is any warranty work.

Talking simple remedy

don't let them get one over on you, i would sue if they don't replace a faulty product with a similar aged product. Thats alot of running around and getting some bs answers in my opinion. Its a shame that lexus preowned vehicles are top notch...most of the time.

Default true true...

you should picket there place if this method doesn't work...guarentee this would make them think twice about not helping solve and resolve this matter...btw i purchased a vehicle and was misled about its history. I took a add out in the paper and told the public about my incident..the dealership calls two days later wanting to solve the problem if i print a retraction.

Easy way to picket...park the car right in front of the dealership and then place on the dashboard a large sign (use a sun-shield) and just write LEMON on it...then put in smaller letters "BOUGHT FROM THIS DEALERSHIP". (also put one in the back window)

Then on the windows, tape on the INSIDE (so the dealership can't pull them off), using some nice sized text (like 24-32 point) about what happen. "Bought new, only has XXXX miles on it, and the paint is peeling for no reason. Response from dealer, nothing. Response from Lexus, nothing. Cost of car: $50,000."

I think that will get the point across...

Don't wait for the report of the Lexus paint expert "color" the decision of the Lexus President. What will the expert find...the paint was peeling because of you? At this early stage, only Lexus stands to be blamed for the car situation.

Write now to the Prez, Priority Mail with signature confirmation, and describe how you are being treated and demand what you want to be done, in addition to briefly hinting on a possible lawsuit and publicity stunt--but do this very, very carefully.

In my opinion, sending the problem to the paint expert is simply a "stalling" tactic in hopes that it will wear you down. Don't play their game. Don't respond to their actions. AS a customer who was being short-changed, you've got to have your own act put together and implemented and let them respond to you....not the other way around. You've waited long enough.

I agree with with WhiteLS 100 %. Those are stalling tactics. DO NOT WAIT FOR THIS COLOR EXPERT`S REPORT. It is not your fault; it never was. You want nothing less that a new car, and that should be your only option. Write to the big boss, and, very carefully, hint that a law suit is on the horizon, but, very carefully. You know, the facts are that the car`s paint is defective, and they know it. If you stand your ground, Lexus will have to replace your car. The very best of courage and luck . Josey

Ok guys. I have just completed a 5 page letter to Denny Clements, President Group Manager, Lexus Northamerica, 19001 South Western Avenue Torrance, Ca 90509.

Mr. Clements is President in charge of Lexus Northamerica.

I will be mailing it out this evening. Thanks for all of your support and by the way, I told Mr. Clements about clublexus.com and how many of you have supported me. Kudos to CL.

So sorry about all this. Seeing those pictures physically pained me. Such a beautiful car deserves beautiful DEPENDABLE paint!

My two cents. I used to work in commercial real estate where every transaction was reviewed by our lawyer. Here are some things you can do to cover your butt and show you mean business. You are sending this letter certified, return receipt requested, or via some method where you can prove delivery, right? Don't give them any wiggle room. You need to be able to prove when they got the letter. In the letter give them X days to respond via whatever means your legal counsel thinks is best (usually via certified mail back to you, a phone call from them is acceptable only if followed up by written correspondence) If this thing goes to court, notes are good, but a paper trail with dates and confirmations is irrefutable.

Best of luck. It is a sad day for the Lexus name if you do not get the only fair resolution, a new car! You didn't buy a freakin' Kia, you bought the Lexus name, which carries it with decades of engineering excellence (via the Toyota heritage) and a multi-million dollar investment to become and remain the pinnacle of customer service.

GS4Dougie....Well I was supposed to hear from Lexus by the end of last week. They called on Wed of last week and said that the I would not hear until Monday. Well, it's now almost 2:30 in the afternoon and I've heard NOTHING! I understand that close of business is still a little time away, but I'm really tired of this whole mess. I just wish that I would know either way.

Ok guys, here's the scoop. I had to call Lexus again. They hadn't even bothered to call me. I spoke with the customer service rep that had been dealing with me from the start. The guy had the nerve to tell me that he didn't have an answer and wouldn't for another few days. I've been told this so many times that I almost lost it. Then he told me to call the sales manager at the dealership and he would give me some more information. Through this whole mess it's been me that had to constantly call everyone.

I called the dealership and spoke with the sales manager. He related that I would have to have my insurance company fix my car because Lexus will not fix the car. This guy said that Lexus refuses to accept that the paint is defective. However, this is the interesting part. Although the paint is not defective Lexus says that as soon as my car is fixed by the dealer, that I can trade my car in on a new one at no cost to me. I am thrilled to death that I'm going to finally be getting a new car. The whole point for Lexus doing business is this...1. They don't have buy the car back and notify the next owner that the car is a lemon, 2. Lexus will not have to acknowledge any defect to J.D Powers. Simply put, Lexus knows that the paint is defective or they wouldn't be providing a new car, they would just offer to paint the problem areas.

What it comes down to is a very long and upsetting fight. I am thankful and greatful that I have a solution and a new car is on the horizen. Thank you to all of those that offered advice and support. Thanks to the CL members that sent emails and made phone calls on my behalf and I wish you all the luck with your Lexus.

Tom

No cost to you except higher insurance rates and a deductible. This still seems wrong. I thik the answer should come from corp, not the dealership. The dealerwship will do whatever causes them the least amount of damage.
