Default battery terminal clamp wont tighten?

Quick question....removed the positive battery cable to do something.

Left it loose to pop on and off while working, but car is requiring clamp is tightened...even to put trans in neutral..

Now can't exert enough force to get tight again....seems reached its limit but still loose?

New to this car and Lexus...battery clamps seemed a bit "thin" to me - maybe there's a point to that.

But anyone had experience with this?

Will be too dangerous to try to drive, and car just shut completely off at any moment.

Thanks!

Get a new clamp. The old one is stretched out or distorted. Could be the previous owner worked on the battery a lot of times.

The clamp isn't really a specialty part. it's like complaining a lexus "screw" is "thin".

Found the above thread after searching outside the forum from Google or like...promise I always search first before asking questions - oh well! Appreciate the replies very much which kept me going!! :-)

I wasn't sure this looked very generic, in the sense of what I was used to as "generic".
Going to try to hold out for picking up OEM. But did pickup the $5 AutoZone (p/n 40901) meanwhile.

After taking this pic, easier to see its warped.

They do sell sleeves/cap to add some dimension to the battery post. But I am not fond of them, they oxidize under them and cause issues in a few years. Mine had one, not sure when it was put on.
