Would anyone recommend attaching a 8 x 5 trailer to a GS 300. I have read a few post where they recommend a tranny cooler. I'll be moving from the east coast to the west coast, and would really like to enjoy the drive in my car if possible. Already have a Curt hitch installed.

Another option would be to sell the car and drive a uhaul but it won't be as comfortable.

Any input and guidance would be appreciated.

Why not just rent a uhaul and pull the GS on a trailer behind it? You can rent both at uhual. I did that with our E-Class and the uhual did fine. It sure would suck if you got halfway in the GS pulling a trailer full of your stuff and something happens to the car that you didn't expect cause someone here says "you'll be fine".

Trying to do the least expensive way. While still driving over there.

I hate to say it, but there is no cheap way to travel across country. I would go the safe route as others have suggested and uhaul it with the car behind. If your going to sell the car anyways though, you might as well sell it before you leave, one less thing to worry about.

Safe journeys!

I've actually done both. Hauled a trailer with my 4 cylinder Honda Accord down to TX from WI. Then I moved back up again and couldn't sell my bed so had to rent a UHaul truck and car dolly to trailer my car behind. I drove the car for two more years before I sold it and didn't notice any issues. Suffice to say, it was much easier to drive the car hauling the trailer.

One piece of advice if you decide to trailer the car behind - make sure you enter a place where you have ample room to maneuver. Preferably look for a place where you don't have to reverse to get out, it can be a PITA if you're in the wrong place.

I definitely would not recommend this. Towing a trailer would put unnecessary strain on your suspension and other parts.
