Default A/C control mods

So I've been searching for the a/c control mods and can't seem to find a "how to". I'm trying to move the a/c controls down to where the ashtray is at that way I can build a mount plate for an iPad mini or iPad install since I hardly use the oem stereo. I want to build a mount kit out of real wood and stained it but I'm trying to figure out how one member did the a/c controls relocation down to the ashtray.

If I remember correctly, all he did was shave the sides to taper inwards to match the curve of the dash at the bottom. If you're gonna fabricate your own ipad mount, I think you could figure something out

True I just want to know if the wires are long enough to reach down there. I know the are long enough to reach to where the oem stereo is at but to the ashtray?

Ah yes, I believe he did extend the wires one by one. Oh boy do I love doing that!!! I would suppose the alternative is to make your own extension harness with a used module and a donor plug from the factory harness as to not hack the factory wires. That would be clean and neat.
