No abs.....no abs light either...??
Hi all,
So I realized the other day while it was raining that my ABS is not functioning. I was able to easily lock up the fronts for sure, not positive about the rear. I have no warning lights on the dash other than the bulb out light from the LED tails. My ABS pump does make noise when outside temps are below 50ish, but I live in central Florida so that's only 1-2 months out of the year. The only thing I've done as far as brakes is upgrade to drilled/slotted rotors. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Does your ABS light come on when you first turn the ignition on? It should stay lit for a couple seconds as it does its self diagnostic test on the ABS system and then turn off. You should also hear the ABS pump turn on during the test.
Also check with a scantool if there are any codes with the ABS system.

Ok so it looks like the ABS system is working fine (or it "thinks" everything is fine), other wise it would of stayed on.
Codes can come on at different times during driving and some of them stay on while others go off. It all depend what type of fault the system picked up. As some problems are intermittent, the light may not stay on but it will get stored in the ECU as history codes.
The history codes is what you want to look at. This might give a clue into why your ABS isn't functioning.
There is also the problem of wrong size wheels/tyres and tyre pressures affecting the wheel speed sensors. signal too.

Oh I forgot to add that I put wheels and tires on. They are 20x8.5 +20 on the front and 20x9.5 +25 on the rear with 215/30 and 225/30 series tires respectively. They are bigger, but the overall diameter is the same as stock. So I should just have the codes checked to see if anything is in the history and go from there?

I just checked your tyre size and the 215/30/20 is -2.58% (2.58% smaller than stock 225/55/16) and the 225/30/20 is - 1.67% (1.67% smaller than stock). This doesn't seem like much of a difference and I'm not sure if this would make the wheel speed sensor signals out far enough to create a problem.
Regarding the codes - Yes definitely get them checked.
Have you also tried to intentionally put the ABS on just to check it and see what it does?
Also just re reading the posts, the ABS light doesnt turn on when ABS is active, thats a normal thing. It only should come on when its doing its test during start up and if there is a fault.
