Default CV Driveshaft Question

So I am fairly sure I have a broken Reluctor (tone) ring. I have read through many other posts about this issue of ABS kicking on at speeds under 5 mph which is what has been going on with my 2000 GS300 but more so when turning right.

Seems all the posts reference this part # 42340-48011 for the rear axel but this part is just under $1,000. I look at places like NAPA or RockAuto and see they sell remanufactured CV Driveshaft assembly for under $100, but don't see any posts of people referencing using these parts. I don't mind using remanufactured parts if they save me a substantial amount of money in this case. Any reason not to use these?

What makes you think it's the driveshaft, or reluctor ring? When my ABS was kicking on (same as you, below 5mph) it turned out to be a bad ABS/wheel speed sensor.

I will find out for sure tomorrow when I check them, but from most of the posts it sounds more likely to the the tone ring but you could be right. I just want to make sure these remanufactured parts will work out if it ends up being the ring.

If you take the wheel speed sensors out you can rotate the wheels and check to see if any of the tone rings are broken. You can also check the resistance on the wheel speed sensors to make sure the wires aren't damaged.

That is the plan tomorrow.

Update: In case anyone else has a similar issue I though I would share my results. I took it into a mechanic who drove it while reading the codes and sure enough the rear passenger wheel would read 0 mph while the rest would read 5,4,3,2,1,0 as you come to a stop. He checked the tone ring and said it looked fine. He removed ABS sensor and cleaned the rust build up where it attaches as he said this can push the sensor further away causing the computer to think the care is sliding. He put the sensor back on and no more code and ABS issue is solved. Total cost was $80 for labor.
