Problem with Pinstripe Removal :(
Hey guys, i followed up on some past threads about the removal of the pinstripe off my Cinnabar GS 300. I was just using some laquer thinner, and it was coming right off, until i got to the part above my gas lid. It wouldn't come off, i tried everything, and it won't even smudge!!! anybody have any idea why this happened??? Or what can i do about this now?? Summer is around the corner and i wanna get this stripe off!!

That's odd. My pinstripes were painted on and I used laquer thinner to take them off too. I noticed that the passenger side was considerably more difficult to remove than the drivers side. But it just took a little more elbow grease. You should also try keeping the stripe extremely wet w/ the laquer for a few mins before applying any pressure. During my experience, just getting the pinstripe wet w/ laquer caused the edges to start eating away. Does your pinstripe go OVER the gas tank panel or THROUGH it? If it goes through it, you might consider having that small panel resurfaced. I dont imagine it would cost a whole lot. For anyone else removing pinstripe w/ laquer thinner, one small piece of advice: After applying the laquer thinner, there will be specs of pinstripe paint spread out all over the length of your car. Be sure to wash them off completely immediately after youre done. If these specs are allowed to dry, they will partially bond with the paint. They are small specs, so I didnt notice them at first and had to use a clay bar to eventually get them off.
