Oil leak question URGENT
Hey guys I have a 98 gs400,I've developed an oil leak and from what I can see under the hood is the leak is coming from behind the uppermost left pulley when looking at the motor front on,it's located directly under the air intake,and just left of what I assume to be the thermostat housing,any idea what my problem could be? Excuse the possibly dumb question as I am new to this,I've got a couple pictures I can show,I'm hoping it's something minor but prepared for the worst,this has only developed in the past 3 or so days,no oil light on and not a very substantial leak as I don't have much oil leaked on my driveway just a few drops
The previous owner said the timing belt was done at 150,000km and I'm sitting at around 183,000 now if that helps at all?

On closer inspection I have a feeling it's a power steering line,when I had the oil changed a tech had said I have a leak in the power steering line,my power steering fluid is filthy (why I thought it was oil),and the line runs right next to where I figured oil was leaking,so what's my best bet here remove the air intake and cover on the motor and dig deeper? Like I said my oil light isn't on and when I check the oil it's still full,could it be that my power steering is spraying fluid all over the place? What's cost of something like that as well if any techs could answer this that'd be great

I'm about 94% sure it's your power steering...I know a lot of GS owners have issues with leaking. My friend is a tech at the Lex dealership and tells me he sees a ton that have that issue. Price depends on whether or not your inclined enough to do it yourself.

Start by marking the cold or hot level with a erasable sharpie. Check the level the next day with same conditions. If there is a drop then for sure that is leaking.
Do not put of repairs as the alternator will fail if leak is not stopped.
Leak for me developed after I switched to full synthetic fluid in my steering system.
Be careful in removing pipe from the reservoir. I was careless and broke the nipple of the bottle. [twist to brake the bind and then pull].
One expensive mistake.

Okay so I'm positive it's power steering now but how do I tell whether or not it's the pump itself or this valve on the pump I keep reading about? How can I verify whether the pump needs replacement or just the valve on the bottom of the pump?
