Newbie 03 GS 300
Bought this yesterday. 118k miles from original owner. Timing belt/water pump done @ 100k. Extra set of blizzak tires $5600. I feel pretty good about this purchase. My first Lexus.

Thanks for the replies
The previous owner had a manila file full of the invoices for all the maint/etc they did on the car since new. It doesn't have the saddle interior, but the black is in good shape. The struts feel a little worn and probably original from what I could find. Seems to "float" a little over bumps. Also thinking about finding another set of wheels or powder coating the factory wheels black. The clear coat or some kind of clear film is peeling from the valance between the grill and the bumper on the front. Any suggestions from anyone or threads to look at would be appreciated. I commute 80 miles/day and have a 12 1/2 year old son so I wanted something that I wouldn't mind racking up the miles on. In 3 1/2 years I am hoping it will be reliable enough for him to use it as his high school car and I will step up to something a little sportier. I threw a pic in of our 98 LC and it is still going strong at 180K.

Thanks for the comments. The more I dig into this site the more older GS positive stories I read. I'm amazed at the cheap purchases over 250k miles. Over the last 2 years I've commuted with my 07 Silverado 4x4 which I'm lucky if I average 16mpg. Now in my forties I figure I may as well drive in comfort and save a little gas money. My wife has always driven the new car because she doesn't commute nearly as far. We just traded her 2010 Audi A4 in on a 2014 Infiniti G37X. The land cruiser is the family favorite for road trips, but it's about time to update it. Since it it's a 98 and living in Iowa it is starting to get some rust on the frame and lower part of the fender well. She runs like a top and burns no oil. I have a friend that is a Lexus mechanic and he did the timing belt/water pump at 140k. He said just drive it, but we would like to step up to an 2004 or newer LX, GX or Land Cruiser. Looked over a new LX570 while purchasing her G37X and I about fell over at the $90k tag. They are NICE though!!
