Smile Picking up gs400 Monday!!

After a month of searching I found my GS. A 99 gold with the Nakamichi package. No spoiler and only 16' wheels but the car has just under 30k miles. Mint all over with a few rock chips on the front hood. I don't really like the Lexus spoiler anyway What I am really happy about is its from a Lexus dealer and can be a certified preowned...3 years 100k with no worries. Drum roll please .... $25,900 and $2,000 for CPO....

I am suppose to pick it up tomorrow but the dam weatherman is prediction 6" of snow. Anyone who ever went with a certified preowned from Lexus fill me in on what to expect at delivery.. The 128 point check list claims all the tires will be good with the proper speed rating and numerous other little details.. Should I go over it with a fine tooth comb or will the dealer be pretty good about thing?

Default Welcome

DL,

welcome to CL and congrats on the ride. If it's a GS400 make sure they don't stick you with GS300 sized wheels and tires. In 98-00 the GS3 came with 215/60's and the GS4 came with 225/55's with the 16" wheels. Let the modding begin!.

CPO doesn’t include scheduled maintenance correct? Only if the car break down…they'll fix it, right???

Congratulations!! And welcome to CL!

No, CPO doesn't include sched maint (even full factory warranty doesn't). As far as checking the car, CPO is helpful, but there have been some horror stories, such as previously wrecked vehicles sold as CPO, so if you have an independent mechanic familiar with Lexus, might be worth letting him have a peek anyway. The horror stories are more likely the result of unethical dealers than any fault in the CPO program, but nonetheless, caveat emptor.

Thumbs up Welcome

Alright Bro. Congrats. on the GS. You will love this car! Also get the car checked out carefullly.
Make sure the car has not been repainted. Open the doors, hood, & trunk. Check over the car very carefully making sure the vin. #'s tag are on each door. Check over the paint & check for possible paint job.
