Yeah, the plan is to completely ditch the factory intake and exhaust manifolds. Currently I am designing a short runner intake with a single divided plenum with two throttles. An engineering buddy of mine is helping with the dynamic flow testing and it all looks good so far. Another buddy of mine is fabing up a set of headers as well - they'll go 3 into 1 then 2 into 1. I'm also using none of the factory electronics, engine management and transmission control will be through a Syvecs S12 ecu.

You for sure get the annual award for ***** out modification, and actually doing it instead of talking about it. do not break that intake manifold gasket that goes to the cylinder heads, those are fragile and I bet would be a mother ##### to replace.

Thanks man! I've pulled enough engines apart to know that those thin metal gaskets become fragile over time and like to break. But one good thing about buying an engine with such low miles is that everything is still like brand new! Everything came apart very easily with no trouble.

Did the engine mounts actually just line up? or is that a custom subframe or motor bracket?

It literally bolts in. Toyota doesn't change a whole lot when they build chassis'. The engine is front sump so it just drops in, the amazing part is that the later generation a761e transmission bolted in too. I took the crossmember from the century off and put the original one from the 5 speed on and it all lined right up.

Engine book with full all part numbers, torque specs, and rebuilt step by step. Its in Japanese but there are few words anyway.

What will you do for a PCM/ECM to run it? Aftermarket? Megasquirt?

As I said previously, I plan on using none of the factory wiring or electronics. Now I know Megasquirt is powerful for what it is, however the simple answer is it just will not do what I want. To be honest there are few aftermarket ECUs which can provide what I need. 12 cylinders, 12 coils, VVTi, 4 knock sensors, dual wideband control, multiple electronic throttle bodies, and the usual pressure and temp sensors. On top of all of that, the ECU had to be able to control the A761e transmission, that was an important part of the project. The engine and trans had to be controlled by 1 ECU. The only ecu which I know of, that can do all the above tasks, and has enough outputs and the capability to run the trans is the Syvecs S12 ECU. Syvecs is the company the AMS guys use on their Alpha performance series. Syvecs has done tests with both the 6 and the 8 speed autos and using their software and specs have achieved a level of performance far above the factory on a stock box.

As for the wiring, Ron - from YotaConnectors.com, is building me a complete engine harness as well as a complete chassis harness for the car.
