'03 GS300 Air Intake Part
I just finished changing the valve cover gaskets and while removing this intake connector the plastic on the engine side of it just crumbled when I touched it. When I put everything back together the engine ran very rough until I put my hand over the broken holes at which time I discovered that it draws vacuum. So I put some duct tape over the holes but know it won't last long with the exhaust heat. Is there a decent fix for this that someone else has done?
I copied this from another post; the plastic I'm talking about is just above the 'metal plate' the original posted is pointing out.

I took the heat shield off the bottom of it while trying to determine if it was worth spending a little time repairing. Found that the bottom piece was also deteriorating to the point of having a lengthy crack at least 3 inches long and apparently been a source of vacuum leak for some time. Will be replaced.
